Replace pump faucet with a normal faucet.

Hello all,

I bought a 68ish little camper, probably 12-14 ft corsair. The only work that I need to do is the fun cosmetic stuff. ( this is my first camper ).

The only work that is beyond paint and cleaning is that there is an old faucet with a pump, which I assume is connected to some sort of reservoir?

I want to get rid of the pump faucet, and just install a normal faucet.

Seems easy in theory, and I haven't even really looked too hard at the setup yet, I wa just curious if anyone had any tips or tricks for me to look at before I go doing this work.

Hi Ryan,

In theory, it is pretty simple, but in practice, there may be some pitfalls!  Your system is unpressurized till you activate the pump; thus, little chance of leakage, and certainly nothing drastic unless the tank leaks.  In order to use a standard faucet, you will need a pressurized system.  If you are parked with access to a hose and good water, that may be sufficient ( a simple hose connection outside he camper to onboard cold water only).  From there, you can get into an onboard tank and 12 volt pump plus 12 volt supply to the pump.  Then hot water and the means to heat it.  If I were you, I would live with what you have and research your options before charging into this project.  Water leaks, either from inside or outside probably cause the most damage to RVs.

If your camper is in that good of shape that you only need to do the fun cosmetic stuff.... then you would do yourself a disservice by replacing the old pump style faucet.  Your camper was designed for "boon docking" camping in the wilderness.   

If you choose to do this pressurized system... you'll need power to run the pump.  That means you'll have to carry a battery deal with chargers/inverters/converters etc.  

It's certainly up to you if you want to do that but do keep the pump style faucet.  Perhaps move it off to the side.
