Need a Bendix brake booster for '78 440 Dodge Minnie Winnie

This unit works off of the power steering pump, basically a hydraulic valve.  Would

appreciate any help in finding a new or rebuilt unit.

I had a 1972 Banner Class A 27 ft. It had vacuum booster brakes on it. It also had the 440 engine in it. I think that the diesel has to use an hydro boost of some type, or a way to make vacuum. Diesels do not have vacuum, and no back pressure. Chevy & GMC have used hydro-Boost systems through the power steering for years.

I just pulled up Family Motor coach web site. They have a publication on Dodge Motorhome Brakes. According to them Dodge used the Vacuum Brake Asset until 1981. I think that was about the year Dodge stopped making chassis for motorhome, not real sure. Chevy & Ford have used the Hydro-Boost for years, and it is part of the power steering system. I just went through this with my current motorhome on a Chevy P30. It is a night mare. I have to agree with the other guy. I have not see a Dodge using the power steering. I did have a 1972 Banner motorhome, with the 440 CCI, and it did have the vacuum assist brake. The canister for it was in under the bench seat in it. On my current motorhome it was the control valve that was bad. Workhorse bought everything from Chevy, they only had two left in the US. They were in WI, at the tune of $700.00 each. I'm glad I only needed one. So far I still don't have all the air out of the power steering. I sure give you the best of luck. Have any question, ask. I'll be glad to help anyway I can.

I'm sorry. My 1972 Banner motorhome had a 413 Cubic inch engine in it. I guess it's been to many years. My Dad bought is brand new in 72, and paid a little over $12,000.00 for it. I bought it from him in 1975. At that time it was one of the top line. Oh, well, I could go on for hours. Best of luck. Let me know how you make out with your brakes.

The site that Mel gives, is excellent. I just left it. Anyone with a late model Dodge should go here and print it out.
