Help with painting..

We have a65' Shasta that was painted with a Latex paint when we got it. Now, it's time to repaint and want to use a gloss tractor paint. What do I need to do to prep the surface first?thanks

I am assuming that your rig is covered with Aluminum corrugated metal? If so, then I would give it a good sand with some 200 grit paper and get any repairs made to the metal first. Then I would go to sherwin williams and get a "Bonding primer" and apply it with either a roller or brush or spray, your choice. That will do a good job of prep for the paint. Then just tape off and apply paint of your choice with spray or brush. If you brush use a method of horizontal application, top to bottom and you may need more than one coat. I got some great paint from US coatings. It was a two part urethane but they also have one part urethanes as well. The two part dries very hard but must be applied after mixing within one hour!
