I was supposed to camp in the Poconos this weekend, starting tonight. The psycho that killed the PA state trooper and wounded another is still on the loose in the state forest where we plan to camp. Now, the campground is 16 miles south but part of the same 25,000 acre forest. The guy has been on the loose since last Friday and is a "marksman and survivalist". The police have no idea where he is, but are reasonably sure he's still "in the area".
My brother is PO'd that I'm not going. Due to the campground's refund policy, I'm giving up $58 unless they make an exception. He's still going.
I talked to the campground and not only is it mostly empty this time of year, they said they "don't think he'd come that far down" and that they'd have "extra" rangers on patrol. Little consolation if this guy wants to commandeer my RV for an escape.
I'm conflicted about the whole thing, but my GF says go to with my gut. Unless they catch this guy today, I'm not going anywhere. Am I being paranoid?

Escapees Rv Club once said that if your not comfortable where you are parked put the key in it and go.
So why go some place that would?I think your making the right choice.
Thanks. My mind takes me to worst case scenarios sometimes. I figure better safe than sorry. The guy could have gone anywhere in those woods in 7 days. But, it looks like he stayed in his home town 16 miles away. It seems they have him surrounded as of about 9:00 last night. They're not saying much.
I'm taking the kids to a local campground and lake as compensation tonight.
Seem's scary to me. You should be able to tune in WPHT "The Big Talker" 1210 AM. According to CBS they have this person cornered in a home somewhere. On to another subject, let us know if they have a Dogipot system and pet friendly zones. Real good idea, ( dogipot.com ) for isolating the dog business in campgrounds. Were not fond of folks wandering with dog crap and sharing it with our on-board garbage system.
Turns out the news report of them having him cornered was false. They still have no idea where he is.
I'll check with my brother on the Dogipot system - he's there now (Dingman's Campground). I'll be at Panther Lake Camping Resort tonight, which is a bit closer to my house.
