Tri-Fuel Adapter for Generators

For less than $100 it seems like it would be really handy assuming it works. The ability to run the genny on gas or propane (or natural gas, which I have at my house) in a pinch is priceless.

That gas regulator looks like the one on my outdoor gas grill.They state on their web site that it's good for up to 20 horse power.

I'm definitely converting my portable, emergency generator. I'll ask them about the Onan 6500 in my Allegro, too. It would be cool to be able to run it off of propane (or natural gas if we have an extended outage here).

"Super Storm Sandy" might have been a once-in-a-lifetime event but if it were to happen again, I'd like to reduce my dependency on gasoline for power generation. We didn't have power for over 2 weeks. When it first went down, I threw a chainsaw in my truck and headed for my dad's house. I literally had to hack my way through downed trees to get there on public roads. Local and state road crews were totally overwhelmed.

At my dads, where we all had congregated to save resources, we had enough amperage from portable generators to keep living fairly civilized (refrigerator, oven (electronic, but natural gas), furnace (natural gas forced air) and lights. We even ran the washer and dryer on occasion. The real issue was getting gasoline for the generators. We had hoarded a little over 100 gallons of gas between the cars and 5-gallon containers. It sounds like a lot but it isn't.

Gasoline delivery trucks could not get through the storm-ravaged roads to the gas stations. Gas stations didn't have any power to pump fuel out of the underground tanks. The couple of gas stations that had backup power were overwhelmed with demand. Even if a delivery truck got through, they'd run out of gasoline in a matter of hours. Yet their propane tanks were full and rack and racks of Blue Rhino tanks sat there unused.

Long story short - a NG or LPG generator would have been a life saver. Also would have prevented a lot of arguments between my dad, me and my brother over gasoline usage. We called him the "Gas Nazi". He watched where every drop of gas went. Rationed trips in the cars, limited generator usage, etc. His house, his rules. But it was tense. 

So, again, I'm getting one of those kits. I'll let y'all know how it works.
