Rehabbing an older unit can be overwhelming even for seasoned  people. the best thing I can tell you is to take it slow, pick the most needed repairs and do them first..only tackle what you feel comfortable doing and get help when needed. Don't give up unless you really cant go on .the rewards are very gratifying. Little bits checked off from the to do list are significant and give you confidence to move to the next thing. Soon you will be seasoned and nothing can stand in your way.

Hi Deborah, I don't think the roof top A/C has a switch that is mounted outside of the unit.It does have a juction box where the wires join.Where are your wires cut?

the junction box has no switch in it the wires are there we don't have a switch and there are four romex cables coming into the box

the switch had been missing so we don't know which wires go to what

Are there two AC units?  Is there a generator?  Is it a 30 Amp or a 50 Amp panel?  How about a picture?

yes Richard there are two units yes there is a 6500 watt generator its a 30 amp rv plug so does that mean the panel is a 30 amp hard to describe sorry

I suspect that your RV is set up the same way that mine is; The 30 Amp service is only adequate to power one AC unit at a time, and it requires starting the generator to run both units at the same time.  As Jimco said, I don't think that there was a switch there.  What may have happened is the prior owner might have wanted to use the AC that was connected to the genset when plugged into shore power and made it so he could switch from one to the other by switching the wire connections.

Deborah, please post some photos if you can.

pictures are on my smart phone how do I get them on this site

Deborah, I find it easiest to down load the picture from the phone to the computer.  Then you can upload the pictures to the website.  You can upload the photos from your phone, but either way your phone has to be connected to the computer.  Under the featured photos is a link that says 'add photos' it is in the lower left corner.  Then click on the 'click to add photos' link.  A new window is opened so you can select up to 25 photos for the day.  Select the picture(s) that you want to open and click the open button.  The extra window closes leaving you a list of the photos that are to be uploaded.  You then click on the 'upload' link.
