Water tank repair

I have a 1998 Aljo Sport Wagon. I have a leak in the front water tank, in the flange for the drain line. The flange appears to be nylon, and I can't find an adhesive that will bond to it. The leak is a crack close to the tank. It could be plastic welded, but I understand you can't weld nylon. I would appreciate any ideas. I love this trailer, it was one of the first toy haulers and I think they overbuilt it.

you could try flex seal on it. it has worked for me on several things that were of similar materials. i have seen it at wal mart and lowe's, but dollar general stores have it for 5 dollars a can which is about a third of the other places. only drawback to dollar general's version is that it only comes in black, but it is paintable.

Locktite makes a two part epoxy that will bond to vinyl and nylon I bought it to repair an air bed that self inflates I think it's a fairly new product .If I can find the old tubes I'll double check it and re-post the name of it later today.

Thanks Rich - I found the product but it is not recommended for continually wet areas. It is hard to find anything that will bond to nylon, but this says it will.

Are you sure that the material is nylon?

No, i am not sure it is nylon, but it looks and feels like it. Pvc cement does not bond, and a spray on sealer that I tried does not bond either.

Plastic compositions are really difficult to distinguish.  If it is possible, you could cut off a sliver of the flange and try a burn test.  Check out : Boedeker.com for burn test tables.
