We recently purchased a 1950 Star and are debating between leaving it oxidized or biting the bullet and doing the polish!  Does anyone know an in between option?  Something to wash it with that might brighten it but not require the all intensive labor of polishing?  We are open for suggestions. We found a product called 'Luther's' in NC but the trailer is in CA and we can't ship it or fly with this product.  We would need to find somthing in CA.

If you have a trailer out of aluminum airplane metal it will get shiny, glossy but not a mirror finish.

GEES, would really love to see pictures of this beauty, even before and after. There was a slide in type my elder cousin had. They lived in Washington state. found one, but the guy sold it before I got there. sadly, I dont think anybody in our family had any pictures left.

A friend put me onto a aluminum wheel wash that truckers use to clean their wheels. I believe it has some kind of acid in it. I don't mean to scare you but you use 1 part of this spray to 2 parts water. Pour it into a good quality Industrial grade spray bottle. Then spray water on the aluminum that you want to clean followed by this aluminum wheel wash. Let it set a couple of minutes and rinse off with water.Bingo they looked new again. This will take off clear coat along with paint so be careful. I pulled off all my trim and windows and cleaned them with this product and they looked like new! I bought it at a local truck shop(Big trucks Kenworth, Peterbuilt) It was $12.95 for a gallon so it is cheap!. P.S. be sure and use rubber gloves when using this product.

Sounds like just what we need! Thanks for sharing the info, but can you tell me the product brand name so that I can make sure I get the correct thing?

We really appreciate the feedback,

Judi and Jed

Here it is- Pro-par  Super Renews II Aluminum Brightner Concentrate. Product #V268 1110A       Manufactured for Niagra National 2135 Hill Ave NW Alanta, GA 30318. They did not have a web site on the bottle sorry. Any local Commerial  truck shop should carry it! Good luck!

This is a Aluminum cooler that I sprayed with that cleaner on the left side and then rinsed 2 minutes later. See the difference!

That is a big difference.

Hi, wonder if this would take off paint. somebody might have painted over the label with a title number. so need to remove paint.

It depends on the type of aluminum you have underneath. Some polishs up very well and others don't. If it was factory painted it most likely won't.

I like to tell you there is some thing better then good old arm and hand polishing but there isn't. If you want to clean it with an excellent cleaner check out your local Harley Davidson store and ask about the stuff called  S100. It sprays on and rinses off and I use it. You know how Harley guys are about keeping their stuff clean. Good Luck.

Simple green makes an aluminum cleaner that works great. You can order from amazon dot com. It washes and brightens. I used an sponge to test an area of my trailer. Looks good. Once roof sealed I will do entire trailer.

Met all is the aluminum polish I am going use.
