Hi Everyone, I have an "83 Chevy Van G30 Transvan, with a Coleman Delta TX AC unit in overhead. In 11ov. operation, the compressor sounds good to me(non-ac guy), Blower is strong, and I see a recharge valve on top, Which I thought was good news since I have owned a coleman without one. I'm sure it is R12. Any tips/advice on how/where to get this recharged? I'm currently in Conroe, TX. but will be making my way accross AZ. soon and Utah enroute to St Maries, Idaho by Memorial Day. Also, wonderind what the electrical wattage of this type ac, so I can look into a Generator. Any help appreciated. Thanks, John

Hi everybody,

Well, after a good deal of consideration, I decided to remove and replace the Old Delta TX.  I replaced it with a dome vent. When I get a little ahead with savings, I'll try to replace it with a Coleman, I found one New, never installed, here in Tomball, Tx. on Craigs list. The gentleman wanted $450, I probably would've offered $400, but I opted to spend some money on a fridge and solar panel instead. Also, I'm probably headed east to MS., (Natchez Trace Parkway) and then Alabama. I have a Daughter in Al. and also have a Sister in Ohio(not doing too well) and I don't want to be too far away in the event that I'm needed. I don't expect the weather to be as hot there, and am hoping an evaporative cooler will do. Otherwise, it'll be a sweaty summer. I don't mind too much though. Those are the plans now, but I try to remain flexible.

My thanks to all who joined in and I'm glad I joined the group. Some real friendly folks, and knowledgable. Hope to meet some of you out there sometime soon.

                                                                                                Sincerely,

                                                                                                  John

just a note. most of those units are r22.
