Ok, I'm having a bit of a problem determining the best way to go when wiring my electrical system. I only plan to have a 120AC system. No DC power. No converter, charger etc. I plan on using a Marinco 30 amp inlet/motor base. I don't know which way to go...

1. Can I install a normal RV AC/DC distribution panel and only use the AC portion (leave the DC inactive)? I like the way the distribution panels look installed. Will this work?

2. A lot of information is out there about wiring a conventional "sub panel" breaker box in the rv like the ones you find at Home Depot etc.. While I the understand the floating neutral/no bonding concept this option requires, I just can't seem to find a diagram (us men need a visual to figure things out) showing the way to wire this in a RV. Everything out there shows a 4 wire (black, red, white , green) hook up with the breaker in the main box leading to the branch cicuits in the sub panel. The 30 amp Marinco inlet only has 3 wires. I can't seem to find information on how to wire the box in the rv using the 3 wires. All the sub panels I find don't have a "main breaker" that I can divide into branch circuits. I would like to have 3 seperate circuits in the trailer.

I know several electrical contractors I can ask and I have done a ton of searching on the internet, but thought someone here could shed some light on this for me.

I think I'm just overlooking (and overthinking) something simple, but my brain can't take it anymore! Any help would be great! A diagram would be even better!

Thanks,

Kevin

For a professional opinion I would get in contact with Randy @ http://www.bestconverter.com/

That is all they do is RV electrical. They don't do plumbing, siding, lighting, etc. They are strictly electrical so they are specialist  and they seem to value service as much as sales in my opinion.

I'm with Craig,  I would talk to your contractor buddy.  And I would get hold of this Randy.   Knowing a pro who will help is priceless.   WestMarine.com catalog has a diagram and they will send you one free.  Sounds like Randy could as well.  Fair winds, Tony, Joy and Cool Paw Luke.

Got it figured out! I talked to Randy @ Best Converter as Craig suggested and I am going to use a Progressive Dynamics distribution panel. I will use the AC portion now and still have the DC portion available for later use if I ever choose to.

Craig, they do value service as much as the sale as you said! I was very pleased with Randy's help and I let him know it. That's hard to find sometimes these days.
Thanks Craig and Tony! I should have posted this a long time ago.
