I have a 19.5" 1976 Coachmen Cadet. I got it for free from somebody not interested in doing any repairs after they had torn out the flooring, most of the bathroom, and had busted open the completely full black water tank (*gags*). I cut off the black water tank, wrapped it in a large sheet of plastic, and disposed of it properly.

How I am dealing with the leaking issue.

I removed half the ceiling in the area where it was dripping only to discover it looks like most of the leaking had been coming from around the AC unit on the roof. I read this is common and may indicate the foam seal was done for. Using a makeshift pully on our front yard tree and my SUV I lifted the AC off and have removed it since the unit is burned out aside from its little interior fan function.

I knew the wood in the roof had taken a beating, but some a lot of that wood soaked all the way through.  Tarping it up real nice I've had it drying out the past few weeks

Around the AC area I have rotten wood and even worse - a good amount of rust and metal corosion.

The person before my already removed one of the windows completely beside an outlet. I am sure when the AC burned out they just put a regular one in the window. I am debating covering the hole (leaving it there for future use for the next guy) and just using one of those ACs when the RV is stationary.

I really am at a loss for how you patch these ceilings. Reading online they have a lot of guides for fiberclass and rubber roofs. It LOOKS like my roof is metal with aluminum paint. Do I just scape up the loose stuff and apply more? What would YOU do to make this water tight? Would it be the worse thing in the world to leave the dried out/rotten wood up there? I want to avoid ripping out the rest of the ceiling. Think I have a huge worry about dangerous mold or....? I know I need to get it dry and that is my main concern.

Here are photos of the mess. :P I can do the plumbing, the electric is great, put in new flooring... Roof stuff is pretty foreign to me. I just know there is no sense in doing a thing until I can make it not leak.
