Clear coat paint repairs

I have been conversing with Alan Coy a new member to GORV'S on how to handle some problem clear coat area's on his Motor Home. I'm not a painter nor profess to be but I have done a few repairs on my own cars with good results but my repairs was on dented or scratched panels. with good paint. Alan's repairs are more difficult because the clear coat is over detailed paint. I would like to have any of you members that are more qualified to jump in and give him some advice. And maybe even a how to for some of the rest of us to fall back on. Thanks to any of you that can reply.

Iam looking for tailights for our 1982 Travelmate motorhome. They have 3 lenses and are surface mount. They were very common in the 70 and 80 not made anymore. Looking to purchase a pair.
