Lessons Learned The Hard Way - Part 3

Have been biting at the bit to get online but at the Caldwell ID RV  Park if you aren't within spitting distance of the office, you won't pick it up!

It's been over a month since I blogged Part 2. I think the last month has been the worst so far. My camera got stolen so there went all the pics I had taken. Didn't even care about the camera, just wanted the photos. Then came the rain and more rain...then the leaks started and the ceiling above the bed came down. I must have spent over two weeks up on that roof. Learned 2 very important lessons...DO NOT sit down on a hot roof with shorts on and the caulking does not need to look like a freshly iced cake. Did get a couple of windows tinted and that helped a lot when the air conditioner quit working. Leaks are now fixed, air is working again and all the storage/vents/lights have been redone or replaced. Received a whole bunch of advice and had my ideas of the way to fix things pooh-poohed. No offer of help but those guys kept coming back to see my work and pretty soon they didn't have to many comments/jokes to say! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THAT POSTS ON GOOD OLD RV's!

Had quite a few nights when I was so sore and crying that I had had enough. George was going up for sale! Then I would get up in the morning and look at all I had accomplished the day before and would fall in love with this ole RV again. Still not sure full timing is for me but am hanging in there so far. Think I'm so stubborn and no offense to all guys but some of the attitudes I got about a woman fixing the things I did made me irritated to the point that now I refuse to give up.  Happy Trails to All!

Know exactly how you feel Jackie dealing with leaks and frustrated beyond belief. Awesome you got back to it and got it done. Have to agree no shorts while sealing. Its painful pulling it off later. Lol..... good luck

Everyone gets frustrated, BUT  like you said,, ya wake up the next morning and realize what you have accomplished on your own, and get a whole new outlook on things. Thats why I tell everyone who's restoring or repairing an RV,, when the headaches and frustrations kick in,, walk away, catch a second wind to clear your negative thoughts. I have many times felt like throwing in the towel, But I walked away and did something else to clear my emotions. When I retackled the repair in question, I had a better outlook and a storm of ideas. If you get jokes and negative comments on the work your doing,, take it with a grain of salt.  You can do what ever you put your mind to, Male or Female, makes no difference. Your only limitation is your imagination. Be positive and there are several people here willing to help you with ideas in a positive way, and the *links here have very valuable info. So hang in there,, Life is good.
