Took a trip last summer to Winchester, Va. in the Telstar dolly towing the commuter Saturn . Had a good time in the area. Couldn't visit Skyline drive due to it being closed at the time. So instead we traveled down highway 11 until we came upon an accident that was requiring closure of Rt. 11 so we decided to go over to the West side of the mountains and continue down towards the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Got to do some sight seeing on the Parkway until we began to run into some heavy fog so we decided to follow Miss "Lady Garmen's" directions off the mountain. We ended up in a valley with the road just wider than the RV and then had to turn onto another road that was actually a gravel road that we at first thought was someone's driveway. It wasn't though. The hills were so steep that at times I had to drive in Low at WOT and still would only hit speeds of 15-18 mph. Man was that 350 CID Chevy earning her keep!
We would then start downhill and I would have to stay in low gear to help slow the RV. Good thing that the dolly had working surge brake system to also help.
After arriving back on a normal size dual lane highway we were on our way again. Got to visit some beautiful little towns and saw some great things along the way.
All in all, we had an exciting time and was very pleased that the old RV took us and brought us home. Used only 1/2 quart of motor oil as hard as it had to work. Hope it continues to be reliable as that time.
Hope to get to use it more this summer if time and money allows.
I think I now have the RVing Bug....

Thanks for the info. I will definately look into the insurance coverage.
Thats great you had an enjoyable trip, maybe a little hairy at times, but sounded like you did a great job keeping the tires on the ground.
