Hey Campers!

On our last trip, we had fuel delivery issues on the way home and I think a fuel filter solved it but I wonder how and when that mid ship elec. pump works?

I tested for 12volts with the key on with no results and am wondering if it just engages while starting?

I do have to crank it alot when we stop for a refuel

Any and all reply's are greatly appreciated .

Off to two weeks in SanDiego whoohoo!

Happy camping to all

Hey Allan: Most of these older motor homes have a fuel pump safety device. The pump is wired thru the oil pressure switch so that the pump will only run when there is a signal that the oil pump has pressure indicating that the engine is running. These pressure switches can fail to provide a signal and then your fuel pump will not run. This is in case you have an accident to prevent the pump from running when the engine is off and spilling fuel. I had to bypass mine on my 318 dodge engine as it would not work even with a new pressure switch? I wired it direct with a switch to keep things running. You could have low oil pressure but it is most llikely the switch. Jim

it was NOT running when i did the test so with that info i will look at it when running!

the engine has 10k on it so there's not a pressure issue!

I DID put a new sender on when I bought it and I know the wire to the pump is a green one and will poke around to have another look this sat!

thanks!
