HELP!! 1973 Winnebago Brave 18ft., how do you release the emergency brake??? Thanks, Jay,in ALBERTA CANADA

You pull the lever back to turn it on, and push it all the way forward to release it.   In the picture above, the brake is in the released position.    The knob on top adjusts how strong the brake holds, clockwise tightens it.  (If I remember correctly).   The cable runs to a brake drum that sits on the tailshaft of the transmission.

                              The brake is still on slightly( The IDIOT light is on ), I have tried to push the lever back down and it won't go that way. I can pull it up more but, i don't want to put the brake on any more if i can't release it.   Jay.

Are you sure the brake light is for the parking brake and its not the proportional valve brake warning light?

I don't remember a parking light on my 72, and my 70s parking brake was removed and replaced with Mico Lever Lock via the PO. 

In the diagram below, it shows your brake light attached to the "Brake Sentinel Switch".   Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the proportioning valve switch?  If thats the case, its an indication that you might have a leak in your brake system.

Most brake warning lights are focused on master cylinder. Early emergency /parking brakes wern't incorporated into brake warning lights.
