Well Nessie got a new to her starting battery. No more using the generator battery to start her. Pulled the group 34 Battery out of a dead Dodge Caravan in the yard and mounted it int he front bumper compartment on Nessie. Rerouted the starter cable I ran to the generator battery to the front and hooked it all up. Between a group 34 with 800 cca, the shorter cable and the new mini starter she turns over very easy.
The battery hold down out of the Caravan was also used. There was enough room in the compartment to store the trolling motor battery for our 5 person inflatable boat in the same compartment.

That pull out bumper battery compartment is sweet!
Well it's not a pull out.. lol. Nessie has the extended frame rails that where set up to hold a 3 compartment tool box. If I could have found one of those tool boxes I probably would have looked for a different battery location. But with a tray in the middle section it made perfect sense. I am planning on moving the transmission cooler to the gap between the bumper and body on one side and adding an oil cooler to the other. That will be later in the summer as our first camping trip this year is next weekend. It will be after I go through the rear brakes and do the conversion to electronic fuel injection.
Darn and I thought it was a drawer! LOL! Sounds like some good solutions to not having the toolbox - and easy access is nice...
Just trying to figure out how to make a cover for it. A project for another day.
