Roof repair 97 Aerolite Camper.

I bought a 97 Aerolite 30 foot camper with extensive water damage.  The rubber roof was dry rotted & ripped.   Fiberglass side starting to delaminate from the sides.  I ripped off the rubber roof.  Found the roof to be made from 2 thin pieces of luan glued on each side of foam.  The most of the outer layer of luan is ruined.  I removed some inside storage cabinets in the front and did not realize they were helping support the roof.  I fell through the roof & ruined the first 4ft section of roof.  Any suggestions on how I should proceed with repairs would be appreciated.    Is anyone familiar with the construction of these Aerolite campers?    Thanks Tom

Without a eyefull of your damage,, I can only offer advice to repairing and supporting the roof with a truss design. 2x2 at the smallest, 2x4 for the best. Taper the end edges down to about an inch leaving the center a bit higher then the ends. This will give you a small rise in center of roof, which is a plus as water won't puddle up, making a small lake. Luan board can be picked up at home depot or Lowes, etc.. fiberglass panels can be re-integrated for roofing before a final roof coating is chosen and applied. Hope this helps a little with your repair.  Use your imagination.

Ok. thanks for the good response.  This is along the lines I was thinking.  I was going to do some sort of trusses for the 1st 4ft that came off.  Then, lay new luan all the way across the back.  Gluing the new luan to the old & using some "grab" in between the fiberglass to hold it in where it is coming apart from the walls.  In the first section that came off, should I use luan or a little thicker plywood?   And forgive me about the tapered truss, would I just use a circular saw or something else to do those tapers?

Did you find a way to remove the panels and repair them and put them back? I have the same issue and want to remove them and put new ceiling panel on the one side and 1/4 inch plywood on the other.
