I bought my Fiat Ducato Capri 1992 model, earlier part of this year using my entire savings, later to discover a serious water ingress problem at the rear. I was obviously shocked and devastated to discover it all, especially as we had arranged to leave for Europe next week. The buyer made no mention of the issue and I suspect he kept it undercover until it was sold to me.

Anyway I’ve decided to tackle the issue head on and completely strip the rear of the motorhome, gutting out the wardrobe and toilet room. I put it down to the issue of the bike rack being fitted through the insulation wall and not the 25mm plywood located 10mm below the insertion points (it looked like a rushed job), over time the bike rack had sagged causing the water to seep through.

I thought I would video the entire process so hopefully someone in the same boat as me (excuse the pun) can use it as a reference point and see it really is not that bad once you get started, definitely not in comparison to leaving the damp and rot there.

I’ve currently dismantled the obstructions including sink unit, toilet, shower tray, shower wall, wardrobe and water tank. I’m waiting for the order of materials to arrive so will begin the repair stage very soon.

I will do everything it takes to make it to Europe on time for my partner and our 17 year old Jack Russell.

That's the spirit! If only everyone was like you, there would be a lot less RVs getting thrown away. I like how you removed the walls with the metal saw blade and I will remember it next time I come across a similar situation.

Hello,  I listed my 1976 Winnebago Chieftain for sale on here and Daniel Long said you were looking for one.  It needs to be towed and I just started tearing out the nasty, dirty orange carpet today.
