Allegro/P-30

A place to share information about and to get help with your Tiffin Allegro and its P-30 Chevy chassis. I'm amazed at the seemingly infinite combinations of floor plans throughout the years.

Suspension air bags 13 Replies

Has anyone replaced the coil airbags? If so how did you get them in. The instructions say to twist the air bag but I can't get it to untwist once it is in coil.

Philip - let us know how you like your 4L80E. A 4th (or 5th or 6th) gear has always been a dream of mine. The 454 is really taching out at highway speeds with the TH400.

I found Gone on ebay after having found a 1987 Chieftan 34 that I refinanced my home to purchase but the owner would not drop price after inspection failed miserably (tires, brakes, elect etc stlil wanted $10k for it ouchy.  Gone ran like a top except for the warped carb.  Have loved her since.. dropped the gas tank with the help of Wonder Brad in NJ Saturday and replaced frayed return line and all other things rubber attached to ports on the tank while at it.. can't wait to go back up and get her.  campin' time!!!

So like Jim I to came across my 1986 Allegro by mistake on Craigslist. So far I've been in, under ,over, and some places I'd like to forget. My latest project is a 4l80e transmission. In August we're going to cape cod one way or the other for a week of camping and fun.

So I came across my Allegro by mistake. It was for sale on Craigslist after having been pretty much abandoned for quite some time. Before I even responded to the ad I did some research on these Tiffin motorhomes. Very solid build quality and an all aluminum frame. It was not running at the time, but I made the deal and had it towed to my house. Even after 32 years, the quality of the construction of these things shows through. I've spent A LOT of time under, inside and on top of this thing. Looking forward to learning and possibly helping other Allegro owners in this group. We don't get out as much as we'd like but when we do it's always a great time. Next trip will be NASCAR at the Pocono Raceway.
