I bought my 1969 Red Dale camper in Oct. 2010 and can't wait to get back into camping. I haven't been camping for at least 10 years and it is time to get back into one of my favorite past-times.

Hi Jennifer Thanks for the warm welcome .  Do you have any pictures up of your trailer???  I am excited about finding myself a little trailer but want to be patient and get the right one.  Right now really enjoying all the pictures and info.  Have plans for a fleet of 3 vintage trailers.  I want to set  up a small camp in my backyard so I can enjoy them with friends and family.  May venture on some locale trips with friend once I get going.  But for now still looking.

The trailer is an MPG (2011) a retro, the graphics are my creations.

The graphic came from a selection from a photo place(photo Stock), they were high def,  I looked at all kinds of nature photos but decided on the illustrations, they were cleaner for the process, I then took them to a printing place and had them printed according to the size I wanted to keep the portions correct.  The print material  is similar to that use on race car for a wrap.  Lots of commercial printers do them.

But if you paint well, that's how I would do it. and it would be less expensive.

Mine cost about $600 including installation.

That's what most of these RV's about if you are not full time.  Something to enjoy and express you talents with. LOL

Hi Jennifer looking forward to the pics it great to see it's before and after I like seeing them all finished and unfinished.  It helps me decide what I want to get and gives me tons of ideas.

  • Maxime Poirier

Ok. Well when the time will come, you will fall in love with it! Trust me, when you get in camping it is hard to get out of it! I am planing on keeping my Winnebago as long as it runs! Planning to go to California in 4-5 years with it. Planing on having lots of memories!

    Hi Jen,

I have camped twice with the Sisters.  I just joined last spring.  The first time I tent camped and the 2nd I rented a cabin because of course I don't have a campable camper yet.  I joined the Sisters as soon as I got home from the first event.  I was hooked.  They do allow you to bring a pet once or twice a year, I think it is.  The same with a husband or boyfriend.  I am trying to find someone in my area to gut the interior and replace the wiring and paneling.  I have been on this mission all summer.  It is hard to find someone dependable and that doesn't want an arm & a leg for the work. I will perservere though because I can't wait to camp in my own unique little camper.

That's what I am looking to find.  Someone that just works on them on the side because they love to do it and is not out to make a killing.  I don't want a total restoration, just want it to be safe, cute & campable.  Sounds like you are in a great area for some beautiful camping.  I hope to make it out that way somewhere in the future.  I had not been tent camping for probably 20+ years.  We had an air mattress this time which made it very comfy as opposed to the olden days.  My 56 year old body was fine on an air mattress.  We had a great time.

    Hi Jen,

Love your photos.  Yes, it is my dog in the picture.  His name is Beaumont and he is a Boxer.  We just adopted another Boxer in October, Lucille, and we are anxious to take her camping too.  We love to camp all over Colorado.  We have been up the Poudre, near Buena Vista, Steamboat, etc.  We can't wait to try the Starlite near Canyon City this summer.  Our camper, Pork Chop, is a 1976 Wilderness.  We would love to get a 1965 or older camper someday.  Happy trails.

  • Denise Tawrosza

Thanks Jen!  That's my baby Stella (boxer) in the pic with me.  I haven't heard anything back from them, but I would love to get a TT that's around 16' or less.  My parents used to have a TT up at lake Erie, we'd spend our days on the boat and our nights at the TT.  I'm thinking it was around 30' - 40', it was pretty big with a bedroom in back and a living area, a banquet and kitchenette.  I'm just looking for something small for me and Stella.  Thanks for your interest.  BTW - I love your pics!

    Hi Jennifer

I have in the last year become fascinated with the idea of getting an older RV (late 70's early 80's)  to use , restore and have fun with in general. I love the restoration process. Usually when I get this kind of bug something happens ! The Apollo 33' from around 1977-1982 looks very interesting as does the Airstream similar vintage. I have not done a lot of camping honestly but would like to with my son. This summer we are planning a trip to Oshkosh Airventure air show for a week . Ill post pics when I get one.

    Cheers

Hi Jennifer,  Thank you for your warm welcome.  I do most of my camping in Florida because I work too much and do not have the time to venture out.  I hope you are staying warm in Colorado.

Yes Jen, I have been looking at Craigslist and there are indeed quite a few out there. Not sure I know enough to make an intelligent decision yet. But I'm working on it. Just know I want one small enough for me to pull myself and not take out a dozen or so cars at intersections. I'm thinking those Shastas with wings are too cute. Learning the ropes is half the fun though!
  • Beth Plutro

Thanks Jen!  We stayed at a KOA in Mt. Pleasant.  It was wonderful.....I love the area.  Its also a very dog friendly city.  :)    I will definitely post more pictures!  This is my first restoration project......always wanted a Shasta with wings, but found this Terry and fell in love with it.

Hey there! My kitty will be joining me ^-^. Wouldn't anyone to take care of her in the meantime. Hope you had a nice holiday!

Hi Jen,  My motorhome is a 1970 and the Spartan TT is a 1952. We are lucky that our parents introduced us to camping and RV's when we were young. Some of my favorite memories came from those trips and I can't wait to make more. We don't have a four legged travel companion at the moment but have had as many as three at a time. I like your little Red Dale, it will be a hit at the camp ground. Keep on camping!

    Hi Jen!

I haven't yet camped in the US but plan to do so this summer. We usually camp in north eastern Ontario but this year we'll be heading west north west. Ontario is huge province and we just love the north! Our trip this summer will be to Agawa Bay and route will take us down around Lake Huron through Flint, Michigan. Hopefully I can find some nice place to camp around Grayling Michigan, as it appears to be around the half-way mark.

As for our TT, I picked up an old Golden Falcon last Spring that's in pretty good condition and I'm planning on restoring it before our trip this year. I "believe" it's a 1957 and I have a photo uploaded to my profile. Unfortunately, the last owner painted over the Gold on the outside to red, to match the truck he used to haul it, but I plan on bringing it back to Gold.
