It wouldn't be any fun if it wasn't :)
Just got back from a test run. About 10 miles round trip, up and down some hills, to put some gas in it. When I'm moving the temps are actually below the 180 degrees (it's 77 degrees ambient today). When I stop it creeps up to about 200-210 which I guess is where the clutch fan kicks in (though it didn't kick in because I got moving before it did). As soon as I move an inch the temps drop quickly - the new radiator seems to be working well so long as there's air moving through it.
The overflow tank is low so once it cools off I'll top it off.
The generator had been giving me fits, but with another 25 gallons in the tank it runs fine. I guess it was low? Dunno but I'm glad it's working again. I was exercising it using a gas can hooked up to the fuel inlet.
I saw that - thanks! Looks like a high-quality restification you have going on there!
Thanks Russ. You make a good point. If I had mounted it any lower and I wouldn't get the benefit of the fan.
I think it looks good, Jim, and it will all.ow he fan o pull air through it on those long slow climbs up mountain passes.
Thanks guys.
Rob - my Hydroboost does not have a cooler. I'd be interested to see pics of your setup.
In the meantime, here's what I came up with. It's not as elegant as I'd like but it will do. I wanted it to be lower, but that meant shifting it to the passenger side to clear the air horns. But then the bracket I made would interfere with one of the bumper attachment points.
That is a nice thing to see after all your hard work and investment. I'm really happy for you Jim
I used high pressure fuel line when i mounted my tranny cooler to the inside of the grill of our 87 Southwind. I by passed the radiator entirely in hooking up the tranny cooler. Lots of air movement and room to install a fan, which i still need to do.
