Advice on brake lights that are not working

Hi!
Before I take my trailer in to the shop to have them figure out why my brake lights don't work, I thought I would ask you for advice on what I should check or rule out. Is an aloha trailer and I haven't pulled it anywhere yet so have no history of knowing if the brakelights have worked before. The woman I bought it from last summer delivered it to my house and I took her word for it that the brake lights work. The people at the car shop seem to think that the hitch hook up is not the problem. Thank you!

I'm thinking the same as Lakota.I have fixed many exterior lights by just putting in a slightly larger mounting screw. This renews the ground to the body skin.If you can use stainless hardware the ground connection will last much longer.

I would check the grounding, from the light to the body, and the actual bulb sockets for a good connection. Most RV's use the actual body as a common ground.
