I love this photo! This is a photo of the granite counter tops. The old counter tops were Formica with a very shallow stainless steel sink. The actual counter top itself was made from particle board and was swollen from water damage around the sink. I removed the whole counter top and made a new one using plywood, which I dado jointed and installed bracing on the under side. The tile is 12"x12"x3/8" granite tiles that are mounted using a flexible tile adhesive instead of grout. I also purchased an inexpensive wet grinder and did all the bull nosing myself. The new sink is a deep pan under mount sink made from a very light weight material (it is lighter than the smaller sink that I removed). I also did all the sink cut outs with a RotorZip and a dry cut stone bit(this took forever). My wife installed all the tiles while I cut them. She also did all the grout joint with a flexible silicone based grout. The kitchen faucet is a residential style faucet that has a removable spray nozzle and a matching counter top mounted soap dispenser. The back splash was done with a vinyl tile and applied with the same flexible adhesive that we used for the granite. We tried to use the flexible grout for these tiles, but had a great deal of cracking in the winter when all the materials shrink. So my wife went over all the joint again with a sanded silicone, now it's holding up great.
