- Retired State of Florida employee, after being diagnosed with cancer I left the ball and chains behind. No more being a puppet for someone else's agenda, just mine. As a survivor I have a true understanding of the term "Life is just too short". I do most of those things I want or have wanted to do. I enjoy being in touch with nature, working with my hands, exploring my abilities to be creative. I enjoy saving money and being self sufficient. I like looking at the end product. So I bought my fixer upper, a 1989 Ford Champion E 350 Econoline Trans Van. I am doing all the work myself to refurbish it, except I leave the mechanics to the expert. I wouldn't spend the money on a new one. I took the time to do the research and find just the one for my needs. Everything works and is in good shape. When this project is finished in my mind I will have something worth while and to my specifications. I love this camper. It has style and character. I am just giving it a facelift,some modernization and more safety features. So, I depend on forums like yours for education and understand for the way things work. It is then with knowledge at hand I put the waters to the test and do it myself. I value this knowledge and putting the new skills to the test. And last to rekindle the child within, re-introduce the last fragment of the hippy/flowerchild lift behind and to have a adventures.
