Ugh!

So when we bought the old girl we noticed the back left corner of the roof had a repair. One repair. No big deal right? So we didn't worry much about it.

Well on our last two night jaunt we headed up to the tip of Michigan to a park we love, Wilderness State Park. The problem is that the County roads that lead to it are like s series of mine fields. Even though we kept our speed down so much that every hot shot was passing us, we still noticed that the bottom corner where that repair on… Continue

Well, started the backsplash. Started is the key word there. Ran out of tile. I'm s dummy. Can't even figure that right. Had to order more. Not on sale anymore of course now that I bought the first batch. Now it's "popular". Then I did something good. I used butcher paper for s template to cut carpet for the stairs. I did it perfect! What the heck. Something didn't screw up. I'm grateful. Meanwhile Paul changed out all of those fixtures on the outside of the trailer with shiny new white ones… Continue

Progress and pain

Well we have made progress. We finally finished the painting of everything and I'm liking the color. It changes a lot according to the light. Paul did the water test and discovered only one small leak under the kitchen sink where they had removed an inline filter and used a compression fitting. He bought Pecora to replace. The new plastic sink arrived and it weighs all of maybe five pounds. But it sure is s pretty parchment color. We had bought a kitchen faucet stMenards at s tremendous… Continue

Finished the sofa!!!

Finally finished reupholstering the jackknife sofa for our new old rv today!! I feel like I've run a marathon for some reason. It was pretty stressful and I am so glad it's done. It actually turned out pretty well and I guess we saved hundreds of dollars but I don't think I would do one with the fabric and design again. Whew!!

And....

I tore the scary covering off the bunk mattresses. Pretty bad with stains and who knows what else but they seemed to be made out of a water impervious tyvek like material which protected the foam. All of the foam for the bunks and cushions is in good shape and reusable. I also recovered the dinette back bolsters and over door valance with the sofa fabric. We had to reconstruct the flimsy over door valance board because it was crumbling thin particle board. Amazing how over the years they have… Continue

Fixing up our 1996 Shasta 265 fifth wheel

Hello again. It has been a while since I posted about our fifth wheel project back in March so I thought I would do an update.

The first issue was that the fridge wouldn't stay lit when we picked it up. It turned out to be a faulty igniter. Fixed that. However since then we have learned that there was a recall on the old Dometic and ours is part of it. It is at the dealers now getting that checked out as well as getting the wheel bearings checked out and re packed. The previous owner said… Continue
