Glad it's the modern world, time to clean it up

A weird title but on my ancient 1970(which I guess makes me ancient as well) project, the amount of putty used is just becoming astonishing. Haven't weighed it but it's got to be up in the 20+ pound…Continue

Repair help please??

It's not real clear in the pic but after 45 years the 2X2 has sagged. It's in good shape so replacing it seems unnecessary. Hesitant to mess with the roof, thinking of adding a straight rafter beside…Continue

What do you use these days?

trying to salvage what I can out of the prowler, what is the 21st century solution to the dreaded Asbestos? The Duotherm 70's furnace needs a replacement heat shield, my thinking is whatever they…Continue

Hello as a newbie

Hello all, Thanks for the acceptance for now until I figure this out. I'm an ex Navy Electrician, can't believe I got out 39 years ago!! I have a 1970 17ft Fleetwood Prowler I'm in the process of stripping down and rehabing for Patty and I and the three dogs. When and if I get this finished I plan some short local trips here in S Idaho to see how it flies. Should I run into something devastatingly out of my skill area or too expensive, I can always sell it on CL as a great utility trailer and start over with something less labor intensive, but at this point I have a good undercarriage, aluminum roof and most of the lumber.

It sits on pavement in a storage a few blocks down the street

As with regular houses, most of the damage and repair is in the kitchen and bath areas and having it stripped out to the studs as well as tearing out all the electrical and plumbing. I have a nice 17X8 ft area to work on, a plus being it only cost me $900 from a guy who thought he was going to just take it on the road, a young executive got in way over his head after doing some expensive and needed repairs like having the front tongue re welded solid with a new electric 12vdc lift, and looks like he had the bearings and brakes done as well. He went out and bought $25K worth of new RV, something way out of my range and I'm not an executive, nor am I young ;)  more later, posting some pics later J
