In my ongoing effort to replace a failed speedometer cable, I discovered that: 1. The cable sold me by NAPA is not the correct one, because my MH has Cruise Control, and the only cable listed by NAPA is for non-cruise control; 2. I also need the short cable that connects the Cruise Control Module to the transmission, and; 3. I cannot find these cables anywhere, from any normal parts source, NAPA, AutoZone, etc., etc.

If anyone can suggest a source for these cables, I would be most grateful.

Thanks!

I just did this on my 69 Dodge Glastron MH. I just asked for a universal cable and then I cut it same length as the original and swedged the new end on ( the tool for swedging comes in the speedo kit. In your case you will need two kits, one for the speed control to speedometer and one for the speed control to the trans. Hope this helps.

What Jimmy said,,, UNIVERSAL is the ONLY way to go..  Because you will spend hours and hours looking but never finding a replacement. And like he mentioned,, Buy 2 kits, (yes they come with instructions and crimping tool).

My problem is, I do not have all of the transmission-end connectors. I am still searching wrecking yards, etc. Can't believe there is such a problem with these, given the sheer number of Dodge chassis built.

Randall, I have had to replace the upper speedo cable on my Travco(from Speedo head to Cruise box). I have a Very dependable source here in Oklahoma that got the correct cable first tryIt was from a mom and pop parts house  in Norman Oklahoma called Palace Auto Parts. The Cable and number for the Upper is from ATP and the Part no. is Y-892 I know how frustrating it can get, I had Orileys looking for 2 month before I went to Palace and I got it the next day. I have been looking for my box that it came in every since I seen this post. Sorry it took so long(: If you have any questions, friend me, and we can email each other some other info.

Good luck/hope this helps

Thank you so much! I had heard of this shop, but had never had contact info.

Email on the way.

I have a 1978 Class C Minnie Winnie Mb400 and mine is located on the turn-signal arm externally. It is an add-on. I have the manual in my Operators manual. If its what I am thinking about, you might get one through JcCWhitney, but this has to do with the cruise  control?? I have a source , that is another individual that I can give you if you want??I will send you a pm if you don't mind?? ben

As an update, I have sent a detailed message to Palace Auto Parts in Norman, OK regarding the cables. I made sure to state clearly that I needed both the speedometer and CC cables. I am crossing fingers and lighting a candle in the hope that this may be the end of my global search.

These cables are the last thing on the restoration list for my '78 Monaco. It has been in the shop all winter getting its coach frames repaired, a new roof, a new cabin window, a re-skinned door, and all of its overhead vents and fans replaced. In addition, the last piece of copper pipe (hot water line routed beneath the tub and shower) is now replaced with PEX. I'm now (almost) freeze-up proof (until they invent a PEX hot water heater .)

I know it may seem foolish to completely overhaul a 36-year old class C motorhome, but my chassis is very low-miles and I like it. New ones, while tempting, are priced somewhere north of $100K now, and I just can't bring myself to spend the money on new equipment.

Many thanks to those here who have helped and contributed information and support.

And finally, there are a number of members here whom I have tried to email from within the website, but the in-site mail does not work (for me anyway) and I apologize to anyone I was trying to communicate with but did not reach. I have sent a message to the site moderators to try to gain functionality of private email.
Alas, Palace Auto is unable to supply or source the speedometer cables.
