I would like to invite anyone with an interest in Glastron Motorhomes to share their ideas and experiences, ask questions and leave comments. I have owned a 1970 model for 16 years and have a lot of experience with it and learn more all the time. The first big question we all seem to have is how many were produced and in what years.

You know the rollcage intrigued me as we have young children. I have considered something similar to add to a travco.. should that be what I find first. I'm not super paranoid, just something to help it roll rather than collapse in case of a roll. And being a capable automotive type I can manage such things :) but it'd be nice to not fuss about it.

I was traveling through Illinois in 2006 when a tornado appeared. It was the middle of the day and got dark as night with very high winds. The underpasses were full and the shoulders were steep. I could not keep from being broadside to the wind and just move slowly along with traffic. I passed two semi's on there sides. It was the scariest time I ever had in the Glastron but it never tipped. Always pack your heaviest items low and lighter items high inside.

One immediate question I have is if the rear window on these tilt out or open in any fashion.

No they don't RC. It is a fiberglass body with a rubber seal that holds a fixed piece of safety glass. There are side windows in the back on mine that slide open.

What did these retail at originally? Just curious. They seem to be a higher end but still a shorty.

Back in 69 and 70 a small Winnabago was about $5,000 to $6,000, a new Glastron was $12,000. I think that is why few were produced. I wonder how much the Travco's were, there are a lot more of them.

I've noticed that many different Glastrons have different grille arrangements. Gary, like on your, the grille seems to reach all the way down while others are very small. Was your grille enlarged or did it come that way?

Mine came to me the way you see it and I don't know for sure if it was that way when it left the factory. It would not surprise me if the company and some owners changed them to increase air flow because they do have over heating problems. I replaced my radiator with the biggest 4 core I could get and put an electric fan on it and under some conditions it still over heats.

Have you tried the Redline Water Wetter? Everything I put that stuff in runs 10-20 deg cooler.

I will look into that, never heard of it.

Hey Gary, I finally came across my receipt for my Islander windshields.  The part numbers are Mac Truck DW 641 and DW 642.  Did you ever find any?

I have not found them yet. This informatiom will help me. Where did you find yours?
