I would like to invite anyone with an interest in Glastron Motorhomes to share their ideas and experiences, ask questions and leave comments. I have owned a 1970 model for 16 years and have a lot of experience with it and learn more all the time. The first big question we all seem to have is how many were produced and in what years.

Ok Ron, I called Safelite here in Nashville for Ford C series windshields (I need both sides), and they said that "none of our suppliers carry that part".  He said he couldn't have it shipped in either, as there was too great a chance of the glass breaking.  Would you be able to tell me which Safelite you called?  Thank you!

Jenon

Hi Jenon, Ron is correct in that the glass from a Ford C series (57-92) will fit the Islander, Glastron and starcraft. Unfortunately there is one difference. If you have two sides then you have custom/original glass. The C series is about 32" from center to where it really starts to wrap around. My Starcraft is about 40". I talked to Les, the VP at Starcraft back in the 70-80's and he said that the have special form made to do the glass in two pieces. A lot of later MH's and the alternative is to get the C series glass and add a third section to fill the gap between the two sides. I have seen this on a number of MHs including the HotRodRV built by Dave Tucci. It is a 1970 Starcraft like mine. I have a few shots in my album. http://goodoldrvs.ning.com/photo/hotrodstarcraft?context=user

i went on safelites web site and entered the info and got a quote from the safelite branch in fairfeild, calif.

Hi!  Can anyone ID this model?

A 1970 Glastron motorhome is for sale in Glen Rose, Texas. Just listed on Craigs list on July 1st, 2012 for $2700. Search the Dallas/Fort Worth Craigs list under RV's, keyword Glastron. The ad states that it is not running but is all there and original. These don't come along very often.  Gary

Hi, I'm trying to get a hold of Ron Smith. He posted his Glastron on Craigslist for sale but didn't leave any contact info. I would like to talk to him. My name is Mike Caffaro, I live in Sacramento Ca. and would like to see if we can work something out. 916-201-7741     Caffaro@comcast.net

I have a 1970, fully restored, runnin' like a champ, and I love it, but have to sell it, unfortunately. If anyone's interested at all, contact me here. I have pics of it inside and out in my profile.  I really hate to see it go, honestly, but I have nowhere to park it, and I'm gonna be in that situation for awhile.

Thats a nice one Josh. Glastrons are rare and even more so in good condition. Hope you sell it quickly and get your price, let the new owner know about Good Old RV's. List it on this site if you haven't already. Cheers, Gary

Hello Gary,

Could you tell me the capacity of the fuel tank on the 1970 Glastron as I just acquired one and the gas gauge is not working so I am working on that. I was just curious on the capacity as I have no manual.

Wes

Hey Josh, Lets talk. 916-201-7741 or    caffaro@comcast.net    send some pics and info if you can.

  Thanks Mike

Hello all. I'm not a big "RV" guy, but I've been looking for something under 24 foot, more around 21, more for day tripping and events. These Glastron (along with the Travco 220/210) look to be right up my alley, plus being a Mopar guy, even more so. Anyhow, they seem like solid built RV's (by comparison to some others) and the style can't be questioned. I'd like to see more photos of interiors (if anyone wants to share). Much like the 210's these things are unicorns and I've never seen one in person. Photo tours would be great to see. Thanks for having me!

Hi RC,  Glastrons are built strong compared to the wood framed motorhomes of the time. These have a welded steel frame with a bonded fiberglass shell. I don't know a lot about the Travco but I would bet there are people here who do. The 318 is a little under powered but it works OK if yout a patient camper, the 413 was also a choice in the Glastrons if you need more power. Mine is in a book by Douglas Keister called Mobile Mansions. Look on page 114 for inside picture. I put a teak and holly wood floor in mine since then. I will see if i have any more pictures of the inside. I have owned mine for 20 years now. Gary
