I never tried to replace them with that type, glad I thought stay original. Thanks for the important info Jimco.
Might have saved a life or two.
I'm here ONLY to help and NOT argue (yall do as you like) but as a retired Electrical Distribution Design Engineer have a few thoughts on the subject of fuses and circuit breakers etc.
1) A loose connection REGARDLESS if on a circuit breaker or a conventional fuse can be resistive and current through a resistance produces heat and burning and arcing and carbon can develop, so I don't blame a loose connection on if the over current protection device was a fuse or a circuit breaker. IE a loose connection is a problem NOT a breaker versus a fuse as the chosen over current protection device in my opinion.
2) A conventional fuse is very simple, excess current causes an element to melt/dissolve thus opening the circuit while a mechanical circuit breaker is somewhat more mechanically complex (springs etc etc). Its good maintenance to exercise a mechanical circuit breaker now and then while other then insuring a conventional fuse is screwed in tight (so no arcing or carbon or heating takes place) a conventional fuse requires little maintenance.
ALL I'm saying is I wouldn't run out and buy and install circuit breakers to replace a good conventional fuse but I would suggest they be kept screwed in tightly to avoid arcing and heat and carbon and pitting.
That's my story n Ima stickin to it lol but yall do and use whatever your little heart and pocketbook dictates.
