I got this Minnie Winnie and it has water damage to roof and walls. The previous owner used about 80 screws to hold down aluminum roof to thermo ply roof panels. Now the aluminum roof has been leaking. I have put kool seal coating to stop the leaking. The screws are reacting to the aluminum because are made of a different metal causing corrosion. Water has damaged wall structure on side. What a nightmare. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. I love this old Minnie Winnie.want to restore her back to her prime.

Hi Bill I'm not familiar with the thermo ply roof but have you given thought to riveting the patch, they are aluminum and should not react to the patch panel. seal with a self leveling sealer over the seams. Also, I was a mine electrician for many years and had to maintain a lot of electrical panels to a certain tightness on the flange; the panels are steal and the covers aluminum. this caused the same reaction as you are speaking of. We used a product called Pentrox on all the mating services to prevent electrolysis you may want to try this product and then reseal. it comes in a tube like toothpaste and can be found at most stores that sell electrical supplies. Its used on aluminum cables where they inter in to a service box. Hope this helps some. If not maybe at least it will show your post as active and someone else may chime in
Hey Bill,
Check this link out. My Minni was junk, rotted everywhere.
I lashed it back together after shortening the heavily rotted rear end. The first thing to do is get a roof on it. Rotted walls are tougher than you think.
What I did was radical surgery but I have ended up with a camper that can do weeks in the desert without a problem.and I turned into a pretty good desert rat for a Wisconsin cheesehead.
Well anyway, check this out.
Restoration and creativity are two different horses.
