This is technical but chemical (my worst subject) instead of electrical or mechanical but here goes as I didn't know where to post it.

 TOILET CHEMICAL

Okay, I have used Thetford and Camco and Walex and a few others and cant say which is best so Im looking for opinions and experience on which DOES THE BEST JOB OF BREAKDOWN AND DECOMPOSITION OF PAPER AND WASTE. I can dry camp 7 days no problem and can push it to 11, but Im "full of it" after that and was wondering how Happy Camper or Rid X or other products may fare. Sure odor control is important, but digesting and breaking down waste is what Im most interested in. Opinions on the best product and why???????? I don't need to necessarily hear about the good or bad of formaldehyde or other products, just what product works best for say a 10 day stretch and Ive never used Happy Camper or Rid X so curious about them....

We have used Thetford exclusively since our first trailer in 1974.  Whether or not it is the "best" I cannot say, just that we have used it and never had any problems.

my 2 cents. chemical gets divided into 2 groups: formaldehyde based and the other stuff. If you dump into your own septic I would advise you use the other stuff so all the critters that live in your tank continue to do so. I got folks that love the aquakem blue in the gallon...I think they camp a lot...

sorry John....did not read your entire post...lol

never sold rid X but some folks swear by happy camper

Ive used aquakem blue for yrs,, originally bought it at Ace hardware and now can be found just about anywhere, and recently I tried rid X and still determining if it helps,, will see as time goes by. I like how it has the measurment lines on the bottle and ya just pour in the recommended amount, (I buy it in the small bottles,, easier to store then the gallon size ).

Calgon water softener. Called geo method, here is link.  Https://sites.google.com/site/cbruni/.

Started using this and even with desert heat no odar, tanks flushes out better and its cheaper. I found at walmart, mix with water and dump in.

Also, since we are on subject, check out Family Cloth system on google. Not saying we use for all jobs, but with 3 women camping it cuts down on amount of paper going in to tank. We keep extra garbage can with removeable liner to put used cloths in. Just throw in wash on return home. Small basket of clean clothes sits ready to use for quick jobs.

Happy CAMPing!
