I am needing to either rebuild or replace the carburetor in my 1973 Dodge 360. Any thoughts on which is the best option. If replace which carburetor do you recommend?

Hi Jim, This is going to be one of those damned if you do damned if you don't kind of answers. By the way welcome to GORV's, I get E -Mail alerts from Jig's .com out of Dayton / Columbus, Ohio. They have a good reputation for service and technical help. I believe they sent me a flyer a week or so ago that had Edelbrock carbs on sale. I also think they had an EFI system on sale if that would be interest to you. Rebuilding is an option as well but, it has been my experience that a rebuilding is a hit miss kind of thing due to condition of the hard parts that cant be repaired such as float pin guides and butterfly shaft bores. You can do a really good rebuild only to have air leaking past a butterfly or air passage that has been etched out of range. That being said a rebuild would still be my first choice because the cost isn't all that bad if you are a DIY kind of guy, and you may be lucky enough to get by with that. If you do a rebuild I recommend a product called Chem Dip for cleaning the hard parts. It comes in a gallon paint type can and has a hanging basket to put your parts in and soak them in the product. If you go that rout be sure to follow the directions on the can. hope this helps some.
another problem is if you have an automatic trans you may have to modify the kick down linkage.
Just replace it because it's likely a Rochester Quadrabo if it's a 4 bbl and a Carter if its a 2 bbl. . I put a Holley on my 78 360 and it worked great.
I have gotten 3 rebuilt carbs from this place and they carry a life time warranty. No core charge. fast service.
