Ok, this forum title was my idea so I best kick it off....
Been a traveling vendor for 15 yrs, I can tell you nightmare stories about the roads I've ended up on. Thought we might start this forum line as a way to give a heads-up warnings or accolades of the best or worst roads you might have found yourselves on.
We travel from Oregon to North Carolina every year for work - we have a leather craft biz and we do shows.
I'm running a 30' 1978 Winnie pulling a 20' enclosed trailer.
....it don't like hills.
Problem is, to get from West to East we have to cross BIG ones!
For the past two seasons we've been driving all the way down CA and taking the Tehachapie pass into AZ and I-40 over Flagstaff, etc....
I've you've driven it with a heavy rig or one with less-then-Freightliner power, you know it's a sucky-long pull.
Our big debate is - are the northern Rockies any better over I-80??
In a long haul like that, it's only a couple hundred miles difference at best but is one better than the other?
Has anyone driven both routes and can give us a personal comparison?
How steep are the grades? How long is the pull?
Ok, folks - start talkin'!!

But, you're right, don't know much past Reno... thanks for the input...
