"For Meteors, top of the tongue, on the left as you face it (ie, “curbside”) near the crank to raise the front.  Likely covered by layers of old paint.  Wire brush to bare metal; shoot a good photo (convert to black and white…"

Old soldier replied to Kurth Family's discussion Scary rv stove experiance!
"Stoves do that just like the pilot setting on all gas stoves, BBQ grills, etc.   As I understand it, that burst ensures there is an overpressure at the burner so spark/fire doesn’t travel back, into the gas line.  Look at your gas…"

"A vin saying 20 is sensible since old camper makers included tongue length.   Making it even worse is that older Fireballs didn’t have “bumpers” on the rear, and if they did, they might be 2” square or 4” square.…"

"looks like there were at least two”17s”:  17-L (Lavatory and toilet) and 17-ST (shower and toilet).  The 17TLS may be one of these, or another model.  I’m convinced Joseph Kurmann never made two of the same model…"

Four year summer project

In 2014 I committed my wife and myself to a “summer project”: restoring a 1964 Fireball Meteor travel trailer.  How hard could it be, I asked myself.  It was only 13’ long; the videos I watched fucused mainly on woodworking skills; anmd I found what looked to be a likely candidate on eBay.  The seller, Todd Anderson of Salt Lake City, Utah sold a book and CD about how to restolre one in a couple of weeks.  He adsvertised it as well maintained, ready to go camping,…
