.....way too much gas. My carburetor is flooding out, brother says it's due to a sticky float. Well, okay.....
He says this is a 4 barrel carburetor, but cannot tell me the make. I can't see anywhere on this what the make etc. is, to look anything up on it.

He also says "I would just remove those hoses and those 4 bolts and take the carb out to clean the float". Har har har.....
there's all kinds of stuff attached to this thing.

So....can anyone tell me any info about this carburetor by looking at these pics, and is there a way to clean/fix a sticky float withOUT removing the carburetor? New/rebuilt carburetor is out of the question, just in case anyone has thoughts on that. LOL

The only information I was able to obtain via the VIN number was "360 2bbl".

This is all new stuff to me, and if you're around Jack...let me know if you need any other pics and I will try. If I can fix this myself, then I'm going to try. I ain't asceert of grease and grime, just asceert of breaking something important in an unknown territory. ;-)

Hoping to get that carburetor out this weekend to begin getting it fixed.

I've been working on the counter top in the kitchen, have a first coat of primer paint on it and this weekend will be a test of doing my own faux granite painting on it. My test strip on some plywood came out well, so I'm going to go for it!  If I don't like it, it can always be removed and on to a different plan.  This is going to be fun.  Hope everyone is doing well, prayers out to those in the path of Irma and the hurricanes behind her. Just noticed, and Jack did too...I took a pic of the wrong carburetor in the manual. It's a Model 2245, not 2210.

Dang...shoulda looked closer before I posted that.

NOW we're rockin!  I have a very old and worn Dodge & Plymouth Vans 1971 thru 1996 Automotive repair manual that was in the RV.  I couldn't determine which carb I had until I took those pics and started comparing to the models in the manual.  Mine is a Holley model 2210, 2bbl.  I envy you guys that can take one look and say "That's a Holley for sure". It gave me a good direction to go on comparing to the pics.  ;-)

Now I can do some research if needed, and get parts knowing what I have.

Thank goodness the pages with the carburetor diagrams and adjustment/maintenance stuff were not ruined and unreadable as much of the manual is from moisture:

I forgot that not all 4 bbl cards have valves. I was thinking of mine which looks like this

Thanks Pat, I am sure I have some carb/choke cleaner in the garage, but will get some when I go into town tomorrow anyway.  Always good to have around.

I noticed that vacuum hose seemed frayed, so I'll follow that suggestion as well.

Spark plugs were bought yesterday. :)  Good thinking, thanks.

Slowly, we'll get this thing running right-o.  Oil change is happening as soon as the carb is done, and Jack W. has given me great suggestions on what kind of oil to use and an additive that will help things too.

I don't know Russ, I was just looking around online for 4 barrel carbs, and I only see one butterfly valve on most of them.  Brother must be seeing something else that identifies it as a 4 bbl.

Damn I wish I had paid more attention when I was hanging with my Dad while he fixed all those engines. LOL

go to Walmart or an auto parts store and buy a can of carb spray in carb cleaner. Run the engine following directions on the can and it will clean out some of the heavy buildup seen here. Also, with a rubber mallet only give the side of the float chamber a good several taps (not a hammer!) and this will sometimes help a sticking float.  Rally needs to be pulled and rebuilt. While you're at it you might replace the vacuum hose tubing we see here. easy to do and auto parts store will guide you on it.    Check ebay for rebuilt carbs.  Probably would not hurt to pull and replace the spark plugs after the carb cleanout. Have mechanic do this on a time basis not that costly.  GORVers what do you say...
