Hello all, does anyone know how difficult it is to drop the fuel tank (gas) on a 1985 Fleetwood Jamoree? Ford E350 chassis. I have called in my area but either it is too old to work on (NEVER!) (the RV service centers), or the lift is not big enough.(Regular shops) I even resorted to the Ford Dealership. The gas gauge only works when it gets down to a 1/4 tank and we think there is dirt and sludge cause fuel flow problems (the carburetor has been replaced). Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated! Can if be a do it yourself job?

Let me try this again as the first post is not working. Completely drain the tank of fuel. have 2 people to do the actual dropping of the tank and have a floor jack to help hold the weight. Take the tank to a shop where they can clean it out and re-coat the inside. Change out the fuel gauge sending unit and all filters. Re-install the tank and fill with fresh fuel. You should be good to go. It sounds easier than it really is. Make sure to spray all the bolts with a good penetrating oil/spray. Some people think WD40 is great, I personally have had no luck with it and use a brand of penetrating spray/oil put out by the SFR corporation.
ok great, we are going to give it a shot!!! I will post pics if I can.
Make sure when you do this job there is NO source of ignition any where near the work area.gas fumes will ignite even in open areas when the humidity is high. they will hug the ground and can even flow up your pant legs and shirt sleeves. be very careful. Don't mean to scare you. You can do this job! just be aware of the hazards.
I want to add if you haven't started this job disconnect the battery first.
Fuel is scary and we will be careful thanks for the heads up.
Good idea, probably would have screwed that part up LOL.
Ok will do that too.
