Noob here, thought an introduction might be the thing to do!
My machine is one I've often thought of building, and then one fell into my lap a couple years ago, a Grumman Kurbmaster. Mine is a 1963 and about 23 feet long. According to the previous owner, the RV conversion was done long ago, my guess is 1970 by the date on the propane tank. The story goes that it was converted in AZ, then made its way to WI, then down to AL where it sat for 10 years, then to here in Charleston SC where it sat for a few more.
I drove it home and began checking things out. Outside of a leaking exhaust collector and a warped exhaust manifold, everything was pretty much in order mechanically.
Some particulars; it has a twin bed in the rear, known as the Aft Stateroom, and a dinette that converts to a twin {it pretty much stays in bed mode}. It has a nice set of upper and lower cabinets and a 2 bowl kitchen sink that drains to the ground, as does the shower that is in the bathroom { I put a bucket under the drains}. It has a blackwater tank of unknown capacity, as well as a freshwater tank and propane water heater. 3 burner stove with oven, and a dorm cube refrigerator. The furnace had become home for untold numbers of mud daubers over the years, took a long time to clean them out! Sometime in the past an owner had extended the rear bumper and added area to carry a motorcycle, handy for me because I ride dirt bikes for fun!
I added a 6Kbtu window air conditioner in the Aft Stateroom, and a 19in LCD TV/DVD player with a wall mount, and a Champion 3.5Kw generator to the back deck. Cut Reflectix panels for each window to add little insulation and eliminate the heat gained through the huge windshields as well as add privacy.
What a beauty!! My DH and I are looking for an older RV...we are taking our time..I want to find the right "fit" know what I mean??
Sorry for the late welcome Rob..I don't get to read much past the headlines lately. My mom has been ill and takes a great deal of my time..
