Well.... we survived our harrowing experience of the 82 scenic drive, from here is should be all down hill or maybe I should say down mountain.
Our next route is Rt. 60. I wanted to escape heading northeast because of the pending snow so decided 60 west to 23 north through Kentucky and Ohio would be safer. Kentucky? Yes, I wanted to take the long cut…

After a point you have to start designing the interior. These wall partitions will provide some privacy as well as aesthetics to the inside of the van.
Started by making cardboard templates of the wall curvature then cut the OSB . Did a trial fit to make sure they will line up correctly and shimmed as needed. Did the right side the same way. Oddly you would think that the shape pf the wall would be the same but they are not!
This is the left side partition it goes from the roof…

I have been working on the doors that will go over the front of the bed partition. I used 1/4 inch OSB and then cut and pieced 1/8 inch hardwood pieces with the grain going at right angles then used tiny brass nails in the corners for an accent. Got them stained and sealed with gloss varnish. Also added a second coat of varnish to my homemade cup holder too. Still have to trim the edges of the doors-add hardware and hinges. I also burnt the wood a bit to bring up the grain for…

My wife Judy and I have been living fulltime in our '83 Southwind for about a year and a half now. Overall everything has been better than we expected, with the exception of one thing. Showers! We understood going in that sacrifices must be made with a 6 gallon water heater, we got really good with "Navy Showers". We adapted to washing dishes a little at a time, to the point that hot water became our biggest luxury.
We have talked about how we could rectify this situation. Should…

I found a silver streak trailer that has a dry rotted floor. I can buy it reasonable but my concern is replacing the floor without taking every rivit out of every panel to get to it. Interior is great, walls are good, anyone know of a good easy way to repair this problem! Silver streak is a cousin of air stream. Thanks Wade!

Wow what a cold day here yesterday but finally got the walls covered in OSB Plywood. Got the front and middle bed partitions in too. Had to use a jack to bend the plywood into shape so I could drill and screw them into place. Hands got so numb that I could not pick up a screw! This has to be a labor of love. No sane person would be doing this on such a cold and windy day

I have had the bed section partition walls made for weeks now. But I had a CD player/radio that I wanted to use in the van. I shaped up a board with a form fitting hole to accept the radio and cut a matching hole in the front partition to hold the radio- obviously I needed 110 volts to run it . I am planning on making a section of extension cord that will attach to the beaker box and then this will feed the receptacles in the van. Can't install this stuff until I get the walls done.

She's not the Style Liner I've been trying to buy from the 'hoarding farmer' but she's mine! Soon as it warms up, I'll put my carpenter to work on the mess someone made putting in a microwave--and then roll on a whole lot of Kilz. Then pick a color that…
