I have a nicely restored 77 Airstream Argosy Motor home. Its powered by what you might call a hoped up 454 GM motor. In my quest to move toward EFI (electronic fuel injection) I took the first step by replacing my mechanical fuel pump with an electric fuel pump. This was the best upgrade I have done so far. Instead of pumping the gas pedal to the point of not knowing if you are flooding the carb in an effort to prime your carb after sitting several days, Now, I simply turn the key on, listen…

Ok folks. I have talked with several of my OLD SCHOOL fellow RV'ers, and Decided to post a blog on Gas fridges.
(Im relaxing before a long haul).
Ok, here goes.
The number one problem the Old Skoolerz,(as we are called) have seemed to notice over the years is Auto ignition, (peizo ignition).
Case in point,, Ole Frankie,(our senior member in the close knit group), had a problem with his Auto ignition clicking ON,even when switched over to full electric. He would…

Thank you for including me. My wife and I are retired nurses living in a 1976 Minnie Winnie. There are some things I could use some help with. The RV has a sideswipe and the door latch is broken. I can't buy a new one. Can anyone tell me if I can fit a door from a newer model or even a brand new door in the opening? Also when I first turned on the heater it blew out a huge cloud of smoke and shut down. I pulled out a black and crispy wasp nest and wasps. Since then neither the heater or…

My brother, a member here but not a frequent poster, lost his RV today. We were supposed to head out to Hershey this afternoon. He had the fridge on electric, and in preparation for leaving switched it over to propane. He waited for the green light indicating it was lit and went in the house. 15 minutes later the trailer exploded. Thank God no one was hurt and the house, while damaged, didn't light up.
I'm still going, but I have to say I'm really shaken up. You may recall…

My wife and I are planning to drive our 1977 Dodge Dreamer 23' Class C (USRV Dreamer), South to visit our son & family in Southern CA. One planned stop in Portland to visit my cousin on the way. We'll head down the coast and see what we can see mostly on the 101. We're planning 5 days down, 5 days visit and the return trip is open (I'll send my wife home via Alaska Airlines to take care of her horses). The trip will start on July 20th and I'll probably leave Oceanside, CA heading north…

Filled the Allegro up in preparation for my next trip this coming weekend.
It looks like I went 165 miles between "fills", and it took 40 gallons. So about 4 MPG. I did run the generator quite a bit - a bit over 5 hours and it sucks down about a gallon an hour. I also question my last "fill" because I know that when it's full it pukes gas out the top of the tank where it meets the filler tube. The gas station attendant (can't pump my own gas in NJ) insisted it was full but…

I am sure you folks will give me more ideas on what is going on with this issue. I have replaced the entire cooling system on this 440 and added two 12" electric fans in conjunction with the regular fan and new fan clutch, 180 thermostat, new high flow water pump, radiator was dipped and cleaned and I reflushed it 4 more times. No kinks in any hoses or any problems I can see and you can see the water pumping the fluid great.
I have been in the mechanic business for 25 years.…

"I'm a sinner. I broke down and bought a "new" motorhome.... well, okay... not real new..... a '92 Coachman 35' diesel pusher...."
We needed something dependable for our business.
Got it for a steal and I think I know why.... it's got real bad dry rot in about 8'+ of one wall.....
anyone deal with this?
this style rig has the newer vinyl outside skin.... ugh....

I have just located a 1976 Okanagan trailer that I plan to purchase and rebuild. I have looked high and low but can't find any examples of one. It is a single axel 13' trailer. Anyone out there familiar with this make? The company is no longer in business.

We are planning to pick up Bertha on Friday after work. Very exciting. Our first voyage with her will be getting her home. Wish us luck!

well as per usual we got a late start. DW thinks the day does not begin until 1PM so it was 1:30 when we got on the road.
Got stuck on the freeway for 3 hours on I55N, no sign of a wreck or construction when the traffic started clearing so don't know what the problem was.
Got to the KOA in Eureka, MO about 10PM. Some out of the road but could not locate a RV Park on our main route so made this 30 mile detour LOL.
More fun and games to be…

I posted some pictures of my 1959 Dalton. I've tried to find information out about Daltons in general and about my model. I have only found a few photos for Daltons and I've never seen one that is like mine I did find an advertisement for Dalton. My Dalton is the 16 with toilet, shower and twin beds. I am wondering if the model was a special model and how can I find out how many were made. If anyone has information I would love to hear from you. …

We want to thank everyone for the input and positive vibes!
After meeting with our mechanic we have decided to move forward and invest in getting Bertha on the road! Looks like with a rebuilt transmission, some new shocks, a couple of tires and some brake work we will have her in time for our first family camping trip in early June. Overall, she is in really good shape considering she is 45 (that may be older in RV years...does anyone know that ratio?).…
