PLAY-MOR 1972 Model 140 Rebuild

Picked up one of these and plan on rebuilding it this winter.  I do not plan to Restore it to original condition.  I want to rebuild it on the inside to suit my needs and have the outside look kinda shabby, like it does now.  I will completely disassemble it, down to the frame, and built from there.  Will keep my progress posted and hopefully this Community can help with any questions I may have....  Thanks in advance...  Jim

its always something.

Its always something that throws a wrench into the spokes of a rolling wheel of intense thought. I got the heater/furnace working after being showed something new about how central air and central heat are controlled,(Fleetwood model RV's)..That itself was a nightmare from Elm St. excluding Freddy Kruger,(of course I did think I saw him lurking in the shadows). A simple 2 wire simple basic hook up thermostat was NOT in the plans of the mechanicals of the design.I think the manufactures pay…

The NEW Tiny homes movement.

Just about every other day, media will do a report on these new so called  mini homes or tiny homes on wheels. I laugh because they say its a NEW thing to have your home on wheels. News media interviewed a young lady who spent a little more then $70,000 to build her tiny home on wheels,It was 24 feet long and 8 foot wide. The media said its called MICRO living. She had a loft area for her bed and tiny kitchen with a single sink, A table top single cooking burner that runs off small coleman…

Humorous side of mishaps.

Having been around a lot of cars, trucks, motorcycles and RV's, I sit back at times and have to laugh about some of the things I have come across and witnessed. It may be as simple as reading a story somewhere on the internet or seeing a video on *Youtube, and the laughable mishaps come to mind. I know I shouldnt laugh at lifes mishaps, but some are totally preventable. (Just bare with me as these are not in the order of occurances).I came across a middle aged gentleman a few years back, who…

Staying busy with the transition.

I posted last week about aquiring a new(er) 5th wheel.A 92 Fleetwood Terry executive 28 footer with a single slide. As with any transition from one RV to another is where to put everything, The so called lets get organized. Yea right,, thats worth at least 3 good chuckles, maybe throw in a snort.I transitioned from my tried and true built like a tank 24 footer to something bigger with a different layout due to heath reasons, That is,,,, I'm getting freaking OLD... Now if someone had told me…

Transitioning from one RV to the next.

After contemplating an upgrade, and looking around, via dealers and private sellers,, we came across another 5th tucked away just across town.An elderly lady had it, and was a seasoned vacation camper. Her husband picked it up to upgrade from their previous 5th wheel. They only had it home for 3 weeks and he passed away. They never got to take it out for a much needed get a way. I asked to walk through it and inspect it and I don't candy coat anything and not to take it wrong if I bring up…

A storage rant!

I want to start off by saying that I am not a newbie to the whole "if your rig is older than ten years you're not welcome here."  When we full timed eight-nine years ago, we had a 37 foot Bounder that was just at that 10 year limit.  We were actually never challenged, but it had started to become worrisome to me.  The fiberglass had faded and the design sure did look "square" compared to all the new motorhomes with their shiny flash and dash.

Fast forward to yesterday.  So, we…

Banner Trailer Fun

After five years of looking I just purchased my first and only Travel Trailer.  My parents had a few and we had some great times in them.  So this is my Old Lady gift to myself.  It's taken quite some time to find one that either wasn't a complete disaster and needed complete renovation or not priced beyond my budget.  I have horses so that's enough to drain my pocket.

I'm sure that I can bring this trailer to it's former beauty.  My main issue now is taking out the junk…

Our New Rig

Back in April, after 12 months of looking for a motorhome I was so despondent!  I had this "vision" list that seemed so out of reach.  The summer continued to be disheartening as I explored rigs with entire sides delaminated, sagging ceilings, and taped and painted seams–rolling money pits.

But now we've found her!  Now, I was skeptical at first - the ad didn't show the ceiling (hmm what's he hiding up there?) and it was advertised as 'great for a hunter'.  I've come to learn…

89 chevy damon escape

I have this class C motor home. It runs well, starts right up, lots of new engine parts, starter, fuel pump, alternator, master cylinder. The roof gave out and it it needs a lot of work inside and out.                   It would be a nice project for someone, but not me. If I was younger I`d jump on it. In the 70`s I had a Dodge van and fixed it up . If I had this then who knows what I could do to fix it up.

It has low mileage 38k. good tires.

If someone want it they can…
