RV Family Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving has come and gone but it isn't forgotten.

There were about 65 Amazon workampers and family members at the Thanksgiving Dinner at the campground. There were so many faces I had never seen before simply because we are all on different work schedules and because some campers are on the opposite end of the campground and we never run into each other. I got to talk to some I had never met, but still there were those I didn't get to meet.

The food was…

Pondering the Wreck

Lately I've been thinking about what caused our wreck in Colorado. Could it be that the GMC Yukon's ABS breaking system overrode the brake controller so that the trailer brakes did not engage? Is this possible?

We really want to get on the road again but can't seem to get over our near death experience. Maybe we could if we can learn what caused the…

Some unique Aussie Go-near-anywhere motorhomes

Hi Folks,

In welcoming me to goodoldrvs, Pat asked me to highlight some unique rv's from 'downunder'. These 4x4 motorhomes allow a traveller to go to remoter and less accessible parts of Australia in comfort and safety, and there is more of Australia off the bitumen than on it. Googling 'I Love Australia' will feature most of these in photos.

These 4x4's are not cheap by anyone's standards. There are several constructors across Australia with a number here in south east…

Adding a left side entry door

I want to buy a diesel rv in USA and bring it back to Australia to be registered here, after touring parts of USA in 2011. One requirement is to have a left side entry door. Can people advise me of businesses in the mid-west or West coast that could carry out this work, including probable forced, partial refit inside. Thanks. Allan

Philippine Traffic part 3 - Pat you wanted photos of vehicles, enjoy

I do have to tell you about the van ride in Cebu.

Rainy, chilly day.

I guess if I had to work 10 hours today, it might as well be rainy and chilly, and it is. I'm listening to the rain pattering on the roof right now and it is sure to put me to sleep soon.

29 working days to go or 7 more weeks, which ever sounds better, and I'll be done with work at Amazon. I will be very happy when it is over. Then I want warmer weather for the winter months.

Another early morning tomorrow so it off to bed for me. …

Seasonal Worker at Amazon

My first blog entry ever.

I am well into my second year as a seasonal workamper at the Campbellsville, Ky distribution center. Seven more weeks to go, with December 23 as my last work day. I am so looking forward to the end of this work experience. It is hard work and long 10 hour days. I don't have any definite plans just yet as to what I will be doing after Amazon, but spending the winter up north is not part of my plan.

The greatest…
