Insulation is in!

Finally got the walls insulated with foam core with metalized film over that I added 6 inch thick R-19 fiberglass so it should be nice and cozy and pretty much sound proof. Also insulated the bed strutcure walls with foam core to help with keeping noise down.

Now on to installing the plywood on the interior walls.

Okay finally snapped  a few pix to show the ongoing work. I used cardboard to make templates for the rear corner walls and also the beginnings of an overhead console.…

Need help in repairing a diesel engine (V8 71) 1979 GM

Hi, We need to find either an air compressor or a kit to rebuild one for our 1979 GM V8 71 diesel engine.  Also we need a rebuild kit or another alternator for this motor.  Do any of you have an idea of who we could contact about these?  Sure would appreciate your help.  Thanks and God Bless, Larry & Gaylo Howard

Got another Toy

As if I don't have enough projects going ,I recently got a 1995 Dodge B1500 cargo van. It is a V-6 which is good for me. Runs and drives super. Started working on the in interior to insulate and panel the walls with plywood. Just finsihed up the rear inside corners today. The wood floor is down too.

Plus still laying out the patterens for the woodgrain I will be putting on my old GMC camper.

I have been intocustom vans for a long time so this one will be the 7th or 8th that I…

RV Wholesale Campers On the Block

While doing a little snow birding in Florida, I ran across a couple guys out on the lake where I was fishing that was camping in the same park as me. After some small talk over the bass, they told me if I needed to upgrade my camper to check them out. They own a company called RV Wholesale Campers and he kind of gave me a gist of the prices on everything. I'm not in the market to buy anything new now, but it was definitely below…

Redo and renew your interior walls

I really disliked the 1980s patterns on the walls of my Minnie Winnie.  I went to WalMart and purchased three rolls of Contact Paper in the black and white speckled granite pattern along with two rolls of Contact Paper floral patterned tape to use as trim.  It was easy to put up, has held up very well and is washable.  I started in the bedroom and liked it so much that I ended up doing the bathroom and kitchen, too.  What do you think?…

Leak in my Avion

I just discovered some dry rot in my trailer. It's a very small spot but I don't want it to get any bigger. Previous owner said it leaked in the past but they fixed it. I'm wondering about the best way to find out exactly what is leaking. I've put a tarp over it for now. Any suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks!

Brake Help Needed

Hoping to get some help with sourcing brake drums.  All four drums are blown - unrepairable - and I need to find replacements.  Fronts need to take 12" 2" and the backs take 13" x 2.5". I've had my mechanic looking for the past couple of days and they can't find anything that will work.

Thanks in advance!!

DAYTRIPPING

Shepherdstown, Antietam, Harpers Ferry, Sharpsburg and Gettysburg - names of formerly unknown little towns that played major roles in the Civil War.  If you are a Civil War buff or if you just like to explore quaint little towns - this is the area for you!  Each town is just a short drive from the Baltimore/Harford County area which makes it…

fithwheeler blog

Got my used 1995 21ft fifthwheeler a few months ago. I figure to hit the roads in it in a couple of years when I start drawing my retirement checks. Even tho it is old it looked new. Right now I'm customizing it to me and my husband . So far I've added a blow dryer that hooks to the wall and a under the counter toaster oven. I plan on putting a better mattress in it because the one thats in there is just not good for these old bones. I plan on getting a 19 inch Flat Tv to mount on the wall,…

STUCK ON STICKERS

People stop and look at the back of my RV.  I see them in the parking lot of Waffle House when I am eating breakfast - stopping and sometimes pointing.  I like that.  I hope I am bringing back some favorite memory.  You see, I have become stuck on stickers - oval ones that tell where I have been, round ones that represent my favorite music, square ones that let everyone know what I stand…

VINTAGE FABRIC

I am researching vintage fabric and have found a couple of good sites, but so far I have not found a fabric that really WOWS me.  Any suggestions on good sites OR places to go to purchase fabric for curtains and/or upholstery in the SOCA area?  We are about 20 mins North of San Diego.

Thanks

Bathsheba and maiden voyage...more adventures planned,

Bathsheba Update: 12.03.12

The trip to the mechanic ended better than I anticipated. Two new batteries, new belts, tune-up, fluids, new wiper blades, installation of my license plate (which coincidentally has three letters and three numbers…..wait for it…the letters are SHE. I love it when the cosmos conspires to support me!) All for less than $200. The downside is that the mechanic told me She has lots of things that were jerry-rigged and he is concerned about me driving long…

Champion Telstar

I am restoring a 1986 champion telstar and would like to know if there is anyone that owns one or has owned one that may know what the red rocker switch that is mounted next to the rear bed area on the outside of the shower area may go to ? I have traced it up to the rear area behind the refrigerator and further to the control level indicator panel. From there it goes to the headliner area with other wires. It lights and sends 12 volts DC when switched on. So far i haven't been able to…

neutral safety switch location on 1969 Winnebago

I have a 1969 Winnebago D-18 with a 318 ci engine with an A727 trannie. Can someone please tell me where the neutral safety switch is located? The engine does not crank over when i turn the ignition key. It is silent. I do not even here a click coming from the solenoid with fully charged batteries. My starter cranks over the engine when i touched the posts with an insulated screw driver so i know it is not the starter. I replaced the ignition switch and starter relay and still nothing. I am… Continue
