Home

Well, I picked up my daughter this afternoon, then dropped by and showed her the trailer.  She seems ready to do some camping this summer ... this time in the Red Dale.  (It makes it easier to coax a teenage daughter to go camping if they have their own toilet and facilities.  Ha!)

We hooked it up and pulled it into town where we took it to the car wash and thoroughly cleaned her off.  40 + years of Oklahoma red dirt had been blown into all the little crevices and caked-on under all…

Painting interior light wood paneling in a Shasta Airflyte

Hello- Could anyone give me some tips on painting  the interior of a 1968 Shasta Airflyte? The paneling is in good shape and I plan to wipe it down with a mild cleaner and then? I also want to do the cabinets.drawer facings. All are in good shape except two bottom doors under the sink that will be replaced.

Seal the wood with a sealer?

I plan to use an enamel paint (easier to clean in the future).

How many coats?

How do you think it will look?

I am not…

Getting Started -1969 Red Dale

I just bought a 26', 1969 Red Dale travel trailer from a local family.  I've been looking around online, and haven't seen another one like it anywhere - anyone know of any others? I've found a few short ones, but none this length.  No photos, yet.  I'll have some up, soon.

It's in excellent condition - the man's parents bought it new in '69, used it for three years, then kept it parked under a corrugated tin building ever since.  The outside is a bit faded, but all there and in good…

old travel trailer no bathroom

Need advice or suggestions on a porta potty and shower.  Seems like a potty with separate tanks will cost under $100.  Would like to hear from anyone in my situation.

where were you when the lights went out??

Hey Gang,

Here it is 4 am and the lights just went out from the ice storm that is going, at least I think that’s the reason. Most normal people would go to bed instead of sitting in the dark but that’s me.

Good thing I threw my bedtime snack in the toaster oven when I did at least now I am having a candle lit bedtime snack. Nothin' like chicken wings, peas and rice by candle light.

This reminds me of years ago when people would sit around and talk or read books by… Continue

Caravan (RV ing) in Australia

We went to Australia for 4 days in severe weather, a cyclone, flooding, high winds! But the bright spot was we rented a mini-van camper and drove from Melbourne to Sydney. It was kinda neat to stay at their RV parks and meet the native Australians touring the coast as well! See the photos attached to my page.

I Remember.....

I remember, The days when I could walk down the street and not worry about being hurt by anyone. I remember the day when my dad worked for fleet wood in the 60's and 70's and some of the 80's and Rv's were built to stand. At least some of them anyway. I miss those days. All I see now is pain, and chaos on the tv. I have come to the sad conclusion that the commander will get what she needs only. No more plans of up-grading her, just fix the problem and move on. I had plans for her, but just…

Gas Prices

I am the proud owner of my second glastron.  My first was a 1970 and the one I have now is a 1969.  It was driven to Northern Michigan by a friend 15 years age and has been in his pole building since.  The mice and other rodents were using it as a storage unit in the walls.  I have started to redo it a little at a time.  We will be moving to California this spring so it will be stored at my sons home in Wisconsin.  My plan is to spend summers in wi and continue…

Where to Park your Rig in the Sunshine State

The last time my husband and I spent a winter in Florida, we toggled between workamping and sightseeing. After we managed a pumpkin lot in South Florida for a couple of weeks, we spent some downtime lounging around an RV resort near Orlando. Then we headed back south for a month to manage a Christmas tree sales lot and wrapped up our Florida trip with an extended stay on the Gulf Coast. It was a great…

61' Cree Coach Information

My wife and I recently bought a solid Cree camper. I believe its a 16 footer. Im looking for any information on Cree campers and where i may find parts for one. I plan on beginning my restoration in April, but am researching parts now. I also am looking for the name of this little gem, and what the origional paint may have look like. The previous owners brush painted the outside and put a Tar like substance on the roof, given the body is solid I just want to strip and paint the outside and…

It broke my heart......

Today I listed the Commander for sale. It really broke my heart to do it. Even my wife does not know it. But bills are stacking up, no work, things must be paid. I have found other coaches that are smaller, for a lessor price. I am hoping to be able to keep a little money and still buy another. I like the 28 ft of space, not having to fold down a bed to go to sleep, but I will do what I have too. I have one guy looking at her, so we will see. I suppose for me to say " I hope it does not sell"… Continue

Careys pants and the preacher

Hey Gang,

I wanted to write a lot more but I am leaving at 8 am for Frankenmuth Michigan with Walt and his family & friends so will quickly only write about my pants and the video I just placed on my website.

Before I left for the Philippines I took my new jean shorts to the tailor to sew velcro on the pockets. I was so freaked about what everyone told me, be careful, pick pockets, thiefs, watch your wallet, your back etc...... So I thought with velcro on the pockets it will… Continue

1988 Jayco Jay class C cabover rebuild.

The beloved class c came to my family in early spring with the knowledge that it would need some attention but what came as a surprise to us was just how much attention it would need.

My friend's dad had previously owned the RV for 14 years in which it was mostly a yard orniment.

As I pulled out of their driveway I looked at the milage on the odometer and the milage on the title. It had been driven 497 miles in 14 years!!!

I did an oil change, replaced tires,…
