Thanks,
Joe

I'm restoring a 1972 Open Road Westchester trailer. Any info on where to get any info or any parts would be appreciated. This manufacturer seems to have disappeared around 1975.

I have a 1977 Airstream motor home based on a Chevy P 30 chassis with all four wheel disc barkes. I need a master cylinder gasket. Its not the same gasket or master cylinder typically used on a rear drum set up, Its much larger. the gasket has Bendix 2228633 stamped on it. It measures 6 inches long by 4 inches wide. Very large master cylinder fluid tanks. I can not find it at any big box auto parts stores. Does anyone here have one or a source ?

Ive been asked about the safety factors when towing doubles or even triples on a rare occasion.
I tow a 5th wheel, and tow behind that another vehicle or a pup trailer and sometimes even both.
Some state offices in Licensing don't mention a required Federal law,, requiring the second towed trailer or vehicle must have safety chains or cable to main tow vehicle. We all know about securing safety chains after hitching up,, But when you tow doubles, ( in my case, the 5th wheel and…

After looking at a number of options I chose to roof in the dome with 1/8 inch puck board. It is UV protected, very durable and flexible enough to bend n the curves. It comes in various thicknesses but I have sufficient support under it to allow for the thinner sheet.
Next step is to apply liquid rubber to the sidewalls and base after which I will remove the screws…

We left Spokane, WA on the 17th of July and made it to Portland, to visit with my cousin, had a great time (installed the trailer brake controller in the Dreamer). I towed a car hauler that I already owned; with my sons pick-up and my bicycle on it. Couldn't believe how expensive you can get into a car towing system. The trailer was only a couple of years old & proven reliable. And the little truck with a matching yellow kayak on top and my pontoon boat in the back. All the toys a…

With the worst of the tar, rubber and goop removed, glued and screwed a 1/2 in plywood skin. Next step will be to enclose the fiberglass dome and then apply primer and rubber roof…

I have an opportunity to pick up a Doug Nash overdrive unit for a good price. I can get a full rebuild kit for it as well. Since its used, I am considering it a rebuild able piece and expect to rebuild it before I install it. I have been considering a custom build OD transmission but, the availability of this unit is making me consider going this way.
I have a 1977 Airstream Argosy 28. Fully restored with a 454 thats bored stroked, balanced and blueprinted to a 496. I also…

I'm working on the titling on this baby -- so maybe another 3 weeks before it's all legally mine and stuff.
I've been to Colorado (first time) and back in the past few weeks and yikes this so looks like a lot of work!
I'll still be working things out - and seeing if I can truly afford to do this project -- or at least get it covered up for the winter and work on it next summer?
If anyone is looking for a project and just loves Kencrafts and is…

With 80% of the exterior repaired it is time to tackle the roof. There is so much tar and dried glue that there are only two options. Replace the whole roof or put a 1/2" skim of plywood over the existing roof. I chose option two and will get to it as soon as I have prepared the…

I have an opportunity to purchase a solar panel at a great price. My problem is that I am not sure if it is warranted. It is a 40 watt unit. Is that overkill for charging a standard deep cycle battery?

Just wondering if anyone has one or had one? We use it several times a year to tow a 20' Bayliner to one of the many lakes in Arizona. Enjoy the A/C when not fishing or towing kids and grandkids. We have made many upgrades and changes to meet our needs.
So it's been awhile since we've had a chance to do an update here as it's been a very busy summer with Bertha. The first trip to Winslow Park in our backyard of Freeport Maine went really well and gave us the confidence to take her on a longer trip (100 miles) to Lake Winnipesaukee NH, where Karin's mother has a house right on the lake. The drive was great & uneventful, and we had another great weekend camping in her with a full house of us & 3 teen daughters. We camped in her…

Ok, this one is probably an obvious one. I need new rear anti sway bar bushings. I am writing this one in hopes of helping others by bringing attention to all of you to check your rear sway bar. front one too. I will give credit here to my friend Greg Blue. Fireman and Airstream expert from southern Florida.
I noticed my Airstream Argosy motor coach seems to sway to much in the butt. Side to side sway as in a top heavy feel. I just installed new Air springs in the front and…

I had an odd incident last night. I pulled my 1977 Airstream Argosy 454 / 496 GM powered coach out of storage. I ran it about 10 minutes before leaving and then drove about 25 miles and stopped for gas. I pumped about 22 gallons of regular gas into it. It sat maybe 20 more minutes running while I pumped the gas. Then, right after I pulled out, the motor shut down. I got it to restart and then as soon as I got through the intersection it shut down again. I could hit the key and it would…

With the recent article and attention to the *SCUM BAG, who takes, hard working folk's money to repair, restore, upgrade etc and then not do the work,, We all have to get our radars up in full attention mode.
As with ANY type of work, whether it be your home or RV, Check and double check there credentials and Local Reputation.
Now don't get me wrong,, there are some down home good ole fashioned folks who enjoy doing this stuff in their retirement years to keep them busy and to…

The problem with doing restoration work when u don't have a garage for it is keeping things dry. After two months of putting tarps on and off I fond a great deal on a 10x20 canopy with a 9'6" peak. Three storms later all is well (and dry)
