Flippin RV's TV Show

Last night on Great American Country GAC I taped the show Flippin RV's. Its like a reality show where a young couple scours the country for vintage trailers which they buy and restore and you get to see the beginning, the restoration and the final product. I'm sure it will be repeated and there are more upcoming episodes which I will be looking forward to. Might wanna check it out. I get it on Dish Network GAC

Love to argue with RV dealers.

I recently decided to go to RV World, locally here.  Sure they have some nice new shiney rigs of all shapes and sizes.I was asking about power cord plugs and misc.. the owner replies hes been in the RV buisness for 30 plus years and has never ever in his life seen a power cord tucked into a storage box or one that has two plugs,, one to go into shore ped and the other end plugging into a plug on the RV side, He said sinse the mid 50's ALL rv's have been designed with a screw in type power…

Xplorer 224 progress

I bought a 1978 Xplorer 224 on eBay last summer and had it transported to The Netherlands where I live.

It seemed in good condition. But that wasn't the case unfortunately. It had lots of bondo over rusted lower panels and even they had moved the front suspension an inch or so, since the frame rails were rusting away on the left hand side, totally dangerous!…

Fun Story

Visiting my Daughter in Wisconsin, I stayed in an RV park (Apple Creek). There was an Airstream jamboree there, they were all friendly and inviting me over to the speakers, one gent asked me what I was doing there which I replied, " came for the Free Spirit jamboree, but nobody else showed up."

I think my 1977 Free Spirit Class A motor home is the only one left on the roads, but since I've painted her (several times now) she'll pass for a 1978.

The adventure continues...

Well, the bus fell through to our dismay. We still live in the Albatross, and decided to rebuild her. She is running like a top but the leaks have taken over. Now in the front we had our own water fall so we decided to tear it out.

To our amazement the wood inside the wall seemed to chared as if in a fire... Oh well needs replacing. The main ceiling support between the cab and body has broken on one side, rusted though.

The sides have started to split as well. No rest for the wicked.… Continue

Trailer Lighting Converters

 Problems  Problems   Problems lol

Okay, so my RV and Truck, like all vehicles used to be, are 3 wire 1157 dual bulb lighting systems (Left Turn & Stop,,,,,,Right Turn & Stop,,,,,Tail Lights). Similar I have three trailers all of which (like most trailers) are 3 wire so no problem so far.

HOWEVER my car/toad I haul or tow to Florida is a 4 wire (Left Turn,,,,,,,Right Turn,,,,,,,Stop Light,,,,,,,,,Tail Light). Sometimes I tow that car and sometimes I…

tagging a old trailer

I recently purchused a 1955 comet canned ham, it was abandoned so I got no title with it. Here in Oklahoma one lady at the tag office said as long as it did not have a "black water" tank it did not have to have a tiltle and be registered, just a bill of sale. so I took a notorized bill of sale back and now they tell me it has to have a tilte....any advice from anyone, and do you know if these ever even had a title?

Roof sag and leaks 1983 winnebago chieftain

I am a newbie to this but thanks for adding me.

I picked up a 1983 winnebago chieftain for cheap as in $900. Plus back dmv fees. I new the motor would be replaced and there was some water damage. So I knew the roof leaked. I am almost ready to put rebuilt motor in and decided to look at other problems. I tore up the laminate flooring and found some floor needs to be replaced. Also started looking at the ceiling and found by the a/c's the roof sags. I am decently handy. Has anyone repaired… Continue

Renovation Party!!!!!

If you have to face the music, you might as well have an audience! We shared our big moment of removing of skin of Beatrice with some close friends. Invited everyone over for coffee & breakfast and told them to bring drills & their 1/4 inch hex nut driver!
We are one week and 3 days in of full time camper work and we see the return of the skin coming! That is very exciting!
Pictures to come!

How To Maximize Your Wardrobe

How to Double Your Wardrobe Capacity

We know thru experience that certain members of the household like to take more clothes than necessary on a trip. To accommodate this nicely, here is a tip.

Purchase a spool of strong twine, at least 25# test. Make sure it looks decent. Now start tying loops about every 4". Then, insert the top hanger (with the clothes on it) thru the…

My new (old) RV

I'm new to RVing although I have been planning/wishing to do this for years now. On impulse I took the plunge and bought this wonderful 'lady' a 1977 Vanguard Sportsman. She's in wonderful condition considering her age, although she does have a problem common to her age and make....the truck motor will not charge the battery. I have 2 friends, both mechanics, who are checking this out, as well as everything else, to make sure she is road worthy for me. It seems the alternator is fine, so now…

Common sense on RV's tires and brakes.

We all know before taking a trip, to check tire pressure and lug nuts.

It's not rocket science.

I had picked up and 2011 39 foot 5th wheel for a friend from the DEALER.

It was supposed to have been prepped and inspected etc, prior to delivery to the customer. The so called 200 point safety inspection.

I did the walk around, tires looked good and I assumed the lugs were tight, because the check sheet said they were torque to specs. I hooked up,, pulled forward and…
